Zimbabwe Can't do well with 8+3 combination in test cricket

Since 2014, whenever Zimbabwe played test, playing xi has been made batting equipped, then picking bowlers. Thought has been negetive in just " drawing " the game.

Part time spinners like Raza, Waller & Williams has been given huge task, they are regarded as allrounders, but their skills doesn't seems so they that they can do both bat & ball. Test Cricket is all about taking 20 wickets. Windies at present ranked 8th in ICC Test Rankings, Zimbabwe are at 10. Zimbabwe squad looks to be stron and experienced then the Windies, but question again rises, will Zimbabwe think positive and play 4 specialist bowlers or bank on those part timers, and play 8 batsman,as its a great opportunity to do well in test format, considering the opponents are inexperienced and have few success in recent years.

Agree with this thread. Again 8+3 combination, again dissapointment.

Zimbabwe Team Management had made bowling attack look flatter with just 3 specialist bowlers. Windies in the first innings scored 219 runs, the way part timer williams and Raza got wickets, addition of fourth specialist bowler i,e a spinner could have helped Zimbabwe to end Windies innings before reaching 200.

8 batsman theory is taken as to draw a test by batting out the opponents. Zimbabwe failed to capitalize in the first innings. Good Performance in Test Cricket depends 90% on first innings. 8 of the batsman just simply failed, and same thing happened in the second innings. 8 batsman theory, should have helped Zimbabwe to draw the match, by playing slow in 4th & 5th day, but it did'nt happend.

Zimbabwe can't do well in future with this strategy

The ‘rubbish part timers’ figures from the test

Williams 6 - 111

Raza 2 - 95

Mire 1 - 27

In total 9 - 233 which is one wicket for every 25.8 runs.

I’m sorry but it wasn’t the ‘rubbish part timers’ or the ‘8-3’ lineup that killed Zimbabwe it was -

Poor first innings batting

Missed chances in the field

Soft dismissals again in second innings

It's downright stupid and foolish. Always has been, and always will be!

In fact it smirks of heightened arrogance.

This is the kind of madness that will get Streak sacked.

Drop the underwhelming players. Stop accommodating them by giving titles that will never make them match-winning in that role.

Waller and Malcolm must simply be dropped.

If Raza won't open, he must simply be dropped too!

Hamilton Masakadza is ZImbabwe's most experienced and best Test batsman in all conditions. He shouldn't be sacrificed as an opener so players can be accomodated as make shift players.

I don't think Craig will succeed for very long outside of the openers spot. He doesn;t have that pedigree required. 3 and 4 are Hami and BT class. At 5 it makes no sense considering he;s neither a gun fielder nor a part-timer of any kind of bowling.

I have grave concerns about this dude. He’s becoming really erratic
If he was America based the FBI would be monitoring him carefully.
