Least talented Zimbabwean

Hi

I keep hearing over and over again things like ‘vusi sibanda is so naturally talented’ which I disagree (another story), but following the line of logic who do you think are our LEAST talented players who’ve somewhat made it?

Thinking about it makes me sort of see how somewhat redundant the term is. But I think I can carve out a bit of thought to this.

For me;

1. Ray Price.
Unathletic, had some physical disability, started off as an opening batsmen who converted to bowling soft non spinning offies.
Made it because he had fire, tenacity, determination and pinpoint accuracy and will.

2. Gary Brent.
Lost his hair at 21. Was 40 before he was 30. Bowled around 110, 120 on his day.
Made it due to unwaverable persistent line and length. Found his niche in early international 20/20 for a flickering moment.

3. Pommie Mbangwa.
Just black Gary Brent really.

4. Tino Mawoyo.
No real shot selection. Fat. Just the ability to be a brick. Unbelievable focus, intelligence and resilience got him to the top.

5. Prosper utseya.

Black Ray Price. Same career trajectory to a tee.
5 ft tall. Found out he could scam some turn later in his career by bending the elbow. Scammmed his way to a World Cup payday.
Played upon political sensitivities
Now scammed his way to the coaching seat.

Piet Rinke perhaps deserves a mention? He had some success and was mentally tough, but he was also built like a brick shit-house.

Same goes with classical and highly talented batsman Royman Butterwick, 140 kph pacer Ian Nicholman and hard hitting allrounder Gary Strydom.

Trevor Gripper and Dion Ebrahim really didn’t have much ability as batsman but both somehow managed to score international centuries

Dion was very athletic and was considered a prodigy as a kid so not sure I agree there.
Not to mention perhaps the best fieldsman ive ever seen.

Gripper, yeah he was a bit one eyed and limited. I did consider him.

Brian Chari for me. might be an unpopular opinion but I think I will pull an HHM and pull this comment out in 2027
