THINGS are shaping up for the Zimbabwe cricket team as they step up their preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 by unveiling a new shirt sponsorship deal estimated to be over $100 000 in Harare today.

Details were still sketchy yesterday but it is believed cement manufacturing company PPC Zimbabwe will be coming on board as the new shirt sponsor.
At list we still have some interest in the game from the cooperate world.

It's a shame all these games aren't going to be televised. Real shame. We dropped the ball there. Would have been a good way to market ourselves as a nation. What exactly did CSA help us with then? Thought they were going to loan us some TV equipment or is it all owned by Supersport.

Any sponsor is better than no sponsor at all.

Apparently they are doing a Cricket Ekahya/Kumusha programme too. Might unearth a "ntini" perhaps.

Their previous kit was actually the best one ever. This one isn't too shabby tho.

Well, we've got "concrete" support now! :D

Reminded me of this Wrex Tarr episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTX_-yZiaUw

Playing a young blessing Muzarabani on concrete is a real health risk if you don't have a helmet. How does the ball behave on one? Or do they use a different ball.

Whatever happened to that broadcasting bus that ZC supposedly owned? Obviously there was some sort of scandal about it involving theft and skullduggery but I can’t remembet what it was. If you can’t live stream quality footage from good vantage points in this day and age then you are a moron. There’s no excuse whatsoever.

All artificial nets are concrete, I guess some have a thin rubberized coating and then the Astra pitch. The Astra slows it down a touch.
You can get different artificial pitches that you then roll out on top of the Astra to change the pace the ball comes off the deck. All the top schools and indoor facilities in England roll out the slower mat in pre-season to simulate the stickier April wickets. The slower mats will take a lot more turn off the spinners as well.
Facing a quick (or a tall guy with a sidearm) on Astra is not for the faint hearted. It’s just a great opportunity for a non cricketer to stand next to the batsman and see up close and personal what 140 looks like.
The problem with concrete/astra is that there’s not too much lateral movement. The good guys just play through the line and whilst it’s great for practice when grass is not available it can make a good batter a bit loose. If you put a batter on Astra for a few weeks then get him on grass there’s quite a big adjustment, especially with spin.
