Zimbabwe cricket administration not doing enough on social media

I feel the zimbabwe cricket administration is not utilising social media and try to connect with the fans they go days sometimes months without any posts on either their Facebook page or twitter page and thus as a result these pages have a low following which generally affects zc advertising, match attendance on domestic games and international games...should they improve I think more sponsors will want to associate themselves with zc..the game could reach remote corners of the country and thus would grow

Couldn't agree more. The graphics and artwork are also very questionable. I think they use MS Paint, because correct me if I am wrong, that was what was used for the new logo (which could do with changing too). CSA does amazing on their social media. We should take a page out of their book.

Is it still Lovemore Banda in charge? I have nothing against the guy personally. I've known his work for years. One of the reasons I became a sports journalist to be fair. I just think he is lacking ideas and a team to do the job properly.

Lovemore Banda is now Team Manager. The guy doing ZC spokeperson duties now is Darlington Majonga. ZC have a whole media department I wonder what their job description is because they certainly don't do much.

Yeup they’re hopeless barely post anything to inspire or j form anyone

Also with Zimbabwe playing so much ‘un-televised’ cricket they could utilise live streaming on Facebook or periscope to show us the fans the games or even just the boys training at times.

They need to expose the fans to the players more

Yeh this a great point , zim cricket forum is the only place close to being interesting and bareable in terms of discussions and even basic English. All the Facebook pages are a joke except for the zim cricket schools page or whatever it is called. Would be very nice if there was a page that connected the world like this one does.

As a journalist, this is one of my passions. The problem is I live in Australia. I don't have access to players or being able to take training vids etc etc.

I just wish they had someone in charge who took their job seriously.

You should try get in contact through social media with some of the players / coaches and see if you can score a gig ahha , that would be my dream. I just don’t get how a international team which has a decent following cannot have team kits available for sale or even a functioning social media page that allows the fans to interact / follow and see what is happening with the team and domestic cricket. Hopefully someone is reading all this and noticing , doubt it though .

There's a lot of things I wish I could do, but unable to. I think I might look in to this as a side project if I can find the time. I need to find a new job because my current job is destroying me and if I could find something better, this would open up a whole bunch of opportunities.

Actually, who do I contact about the ZC post? haha

On a side note, the first post I saw about anything about the Zim team for this qualifiers on twitter was by someone who was at Harare airport and took a photo of the boys on the tarmac on their way to Bulawayo. Not an official page or anything, just a random Zimbabwean who was there at the airport.
