Lack Of Interest in playing T20s ?

Zimbabwe Cricket seems have lack of interest in playing T20 Cricket, domestic T20 series has been missing for 2 years now. Zimbabwe surprised the world beating Australia in the innaugral edition of World T20 2007 held in South Africa and sent a statetement that in the shortest format none of the teams are favourites, probably 80% of the game depend on striking the ball hard.
Since, then Zimbabwe have lost intetest in playing the most exciting format. As per the records, Zimbabwe played 40 T20Is lost 33 of them and won only 7 games with one match T20 series win over Windies in 2009
Zimbabwe Test cricket future looks dark and with the non qualification to 50 over World Cup in UK, odis will also have less interest, with World T20 2020 qualification in corner, ZC needs to be serious in T20s and pick players based on domestic T20 competition, rather selecting it, through four day competition and one day

The recently completed IPL showed just how far behind our batsmen are with T20 cricket. Sacrificing run rates to preserve wickets until the end of the innings has proven to be a failed strategy. The most successful teams regularly lost wickets but preserved a high run rate. Batsmen scoring around a strike rate of 100 are costing their teams runs, at best our guys bat at 100 in T20 cricket.

As per latest, plans of playing T20 is, the team needs go full at first 6 overs in powerplays, taking the advantage of the circle, 60/1 type score in 6 overs is a minimum requirement.
More then 3 wickets falling in the powerplays means match is over for that team, as new batsman comming in T20 has less time to settle down and have to go within first 4 balls, he faces, with 3 or 4 wickets falling in poweplays, middle over bowlers take full controll of the game and finishes overs in much less time, reducing the flow of the runs from the batsman, and once 15th overs finishes, pacers makes come backs with slowers, cutters, wide yorkers and bouncers which is tough to counter, hence atleast run rate of 7 with one boundary every over needs to be hit in the middle order to maintain the flow of run without loosing wickets. Keeping Wickets in hand has always proved better for the teams in setting masive totals.
For Zimbabwe, the game has been in 2007 style, teams are attacking them with their main spinners in first 6 overs, as a result Zim looses more then 3 wickets in powerplays, as a result the game finishes within first 6 overs. Middle order batsman should have skill in finding one boundary every over from 7th to 15th over, needs to be athletic in converting 1s to 2s and lower order hitters should come with playing some improvised shorts. T20 game should honour ex Zimbabwean batsman, Douglas Marillier, whose act of playing improvised shorts in early 90s & 2000 era has become myth in the modern game.
Lack of domestic t20 competition, lead to poor performance of Zimbabwe, as the groups needs to come with modern t20 tactics, and the panel selecting domestic fixtures needs have some brain, with just one month to go, players are still playing four dayers and 50 over games, which might affect their performance in the shortest format of the game.

In T20s Zim might as well go hell for leather because we will lose regardless and only have a hope of containment and strangulation in the field if we've set a decent total.

This is very true. That UAE will forever haunt me to be honest. That playing catch up cricket style is outdated
The gap will keep on growing because t20 innovations are now common in ODI cricket. 300 is going to become a par score. Our players are not ready for that. You will only be able to have one anchor in a team whilst everybody else should be able to play the big shots. We had like 3 anchors in our last ODI. Its a vicious cycle really coz the big hitters constantly let us down too.

My biggest fear is us getting absolutely getting rolled over in the t20 series and the guys will cry that they dont play enough games yet they would have struck a "last minute agreement" with the board to play the series after having missed out on tonnes of domestic cricket.
Its a tough one for me as a fan because I really want them to get their money but I also want them to be match ready. How do they expect to just turn it on at the very last minute against some of the worlds best? I think the threat of 100% not playing the international games would have been strong enough. Missing the domestic season im not so sure about because we barely play any games. These guys will be so rusty its going to be bad. Any cricket is better than no cricket at all and net sessions dont mentally get you ready for actual games. We are not playing Rashid Khan and his boys here where its always 50/50. These are the best ranked teams coming.
Im praying ZC organizes a last ditch t20 tournament over a week or something.
