I think this series has shown that it is time to move on from Hamilton and Elton.

Blessing has consistently been decent so far in his career. Certainly a great prospect.

Tari got a couple of decent knocks in against some very good attacks so another check mark.

Apart from that, not much else, but this was a severely weakened ZIM side.

Hope Taylor, Ervine, Williams, Raza, and Cremer are back for the ODIs vs PAK. Thats 95% of ZIM's batting and 50% of their bowling firepower in those 5 men.

Aus were always going to send a second string squad to Zim. They were never going to pick a full strength squad when a lot of the guys could use a break or get game time playing county. A lot of these guys would not make the main T20 squad. In saying that, the T20 aus squad has always been there sort of experimental team. The place where players they have earmarked or who need some game time or a confidence booster will play.

If Aus really wanted to take T20 seriously, then a lot of these guys would not be in the team.

This series has shown that it is definitely time for Hamilton and Elton to move on. I would even move on Waller too. Such simple errors from such experienced guys. Waller throwing the ball at the stump at the end. Elton just not performing at all and same with Hamilton. Yes Tiffin called a very dodgy wide, but Tiripano did bowl a full toss at the end there. Can see what he was trying to do and I suppose with the right coaching he would get it right.

So many basic errors as usual. It's so many cases of everyone moving forward and we not really doing so.

If you haven’t played a bunch of games in the recent past it doesn’t matter if you’ve got 190 ODI’s under your belt.
I understand that we have some old war horses that don’t deliver, but when they stand idle for months on end who’s going to do well? Take Finch out of T20 for a couple of years and see if he fires, he won’t.
There’s such a gap between our FC players and our stalwarts that aren’t performing that there’s no obvious solution in swapping out players.
If we go back to 2004 where we put in a few young guys and hope they do well it’s doomed to failure unless they play a lot of games, and without a backbone of good senior guys to bring them along it’s doubly difficult.
Having said that we do have a couple of guys that we could use. Masakanda has definitely put his hand up. We’ve got a couple of promising young spinners.
We need a look at Roche as he can hit and he can bowl. We need to look at Murray as well. There’s just a big question mark over his batting, he can bat and has vast capacity to improve, but needs to commit as he’s essentially just a part timer with sublime keeping skills.
It’s good to compare players from other countries as a yardstick- at Surrey they have Pope and a new kid called Jamie Smith as keeper-batsmen, and Somerset have Tom Banton. I’ve watched all three of them a lot. These boys are serious serious cricketers. Whilst Murray is probably slightly better than them with the gloves, he’s a mile behind with the bat. Our coaches, “selectors” and hierarchy are absolutely clueless as to what sort of talent some of these other countries have to draw upon. These lads play two or three games a week against real opposition. Honestly our level is village cricket in comparison. We’re expecring miracles.
I know I’m a stuck record but this admin and most of our technical staff, with or without adult supervision from the ICC cannot solve our problems. We urgently require a complete change.

Our selection process is just a joke as well. You have one or two people with prejudices and limited skills making calls and then more often than not being overriden by Makoni and our resident pharmacist. You need guys like Streak, Taibu, Flower, Brown to sit down and identify the guys that can play up. We need a proper panel with a convener. This idea of it being their private club has to end. They have to go. It would be good to get a restraining order against some of them because they’re just trouble makers. I was thinking a 200km radius of a cricket pitch, which would restrict them to Mukumbura, Beitbridge and a couple of other inhospitable areas
They’d cause trouble there as well, but we’d only read about it in H-Metro.

Zimbabwe missing quality allrounders in their line up. Chigumbura & Chibhabha are average they aren't even half of the quality like Friend, Blignaut, Ervine or Gay Whistle
Robo to rule

Why is chigumbura not bowling and what is the use of him playing if he isn't bowling?

In 2004 those guys had no choice but to be thrust in to the first time.

Now we have had a chance to build up players, bring them through a system and give them opportunities, but none of that has been done. Instead, players have been picked on bias. No investment has been made in grassroots. The youngsters have not be blooded or given a chance. We have no domestic cricket.

To compare it to 2004 is harsh because back then we had to throw them in to the team. It all comes back to the structure. The coaching and the grassroots teaching and plans put in place by the board.

This Australia side is experimental. A chance for players to put their hand up. The selectors and coaches will see who has done well and who hasn't and then when they all get back home, they will all be worked on in the areas and departments that needs be so that they can either force their way in the side, or challenge for it. If they are not challenging for national selection, then they will just go back to their state or club and will be given a programme to work with there. We will just let our guys have some time off, pitch up to training camps. Select them based on either name or one training match and then ask them to perform on the field.
