I too fear that the UAE debacle has spooked Ervine. He looks completely out of touch. He has always been a bit of a slow starter but things seem much worse now. Of course as googly said, if you drop one of our big names for poor form where do they go to get back in-form?
Bigger question should be "is Ervine's poor form any worse than that of Masakadza, Chigumbura, Vusi, Chibabha, et al who all got much longer runs despite having half the career achievements of Ervine in twice the time?"

Dropping Ervine is a big mistake IMO. Ervine has at least played mutliple match winning type innings whereas a number of other players either have not or have only done so a couple times in 15+ years of cricket.

I would be in favour of dropping him if there were a decent domestic scene he could return to. But when there is nothing on offer back home other than boozers league what are we meant to do?

Our guys can never establish form, just as they start hitting their stride at the end of a series we are on another four month break from all cricket.

Some good points there fellas which I’ve touched on in recent times.

Ervine should be dropped, but where does he get his form back? The domestic season is coming soon and although the quality isn’t the same and there aren’t many matches this season, Craig will have a chance to find his feet against inferior bowlers and put the runs on the board to demand a recall.

TapsC mentioned we struggle once the game goes into ‘t20 mode’ and I’ve pointed this out before we don’t play enough t20 cricket which has left our guys behind. Our bowlers haven’t developed the skills or variations to deal with a guy trying to hit every ball for 6 and or batsman can’t seem to go at 10 an over in the death overs.

Google summed up our issues with the domestic setup and how until we have a good standard of domestic cricket or senior team will not improve. Everyone has their opinion of what the team should be or what strategy we should be using but until we lift the standard of our domestic setup we won’t be able to produce good players

ZC needs to give more importance to A games, which Taibu did when he was in the job, last time Zimbabwe A played was with Kenya before the qualifiers, and they need to evaluate performances of the players, and decide where the new players stand by their performances.

Players like Mutombodzi, Kaia, Nyauchi, Chari, Chibhabha, Maruma, Burl, Moor has been common faces in Zimbabwe A team and all of them has given average performances, they needs to be replaced with more focus on youths.
