Landed up on this match from there BCB XI vs the touring Zimbabweans in 2004/05: http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/1491 ... sh-2004-05

we made 522/3 declared!!!

Incidentally Shakib al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim both made their FC debuts with this match. Look where they stand today and where our guys from this match are.

Interesting point.

But Shahriar Nafees, Shamsur Rahman, Rajin Saleh, Shahadat Hossain all fell off. Only 2 players went on to be successful. And so far, there is every indication that Tamim-Shakib-Mushfiq are an anomaly. Granted a few new bowlers have come through like Mustafiz and Miraz, but the young batsmen haven't yet stepped up like the big 3 when comparing for age.

Jeez. This says a lot more about us than it does about them.

Geez this warm up game has turned out to be a waste. All it's done is rule out Chari I guess.

I've got no idea how we'll pick an XI. This, I guess?
I'd like to find a place for the leg spinner Mavuta (every Test team should have a leg spinner), but against my better judgement I'd give Nyumbu first crack. If he fails it'll probably be his last crack, but the guy does have a Test match 5-fer to his name so maybe he can wind back the clock.

1 H Masakadza
2 Burl
3 Williams
4 Taylor
5 Raza
6 Moor
7 Chakabva (wk)
8 Tiripano
9 Nyumbu
10 Jarvis
11 Chatara

I also hate to admit it but with Bangladesh always packed with left handers and the success Raza was having with the ball Nyumbu is a viable option. Problem is he cant bat. What does Burl bowl again? Chari will just never crack it for me.

I would go with

PJ
Hami
Ervine
Williams
BT(wk)
Burl
Raza
Mavuta(only because Mpofu cant bat as well)
Jarvis
Chatara
Mpofu
