Are Bangladesh arrogant

Post by sloandog »

This is mainly directed to Kriterion, as I know he is an avid supporter of the tigers.

I've watched the way they are with us, the way Kayes just loosely slashes outside off stump and punishes anything wide, the stupid cobra dance or what ever it's called after the spinners takes a wicket. Do these boys think they are better than they actually are?

In the world class bracket, you have Tamim, Mushy, The Fiz, Shakib and that's probably it..? The rest are all decent, at best.

They are weak without the big boys. We are missing Cremer.

I think their victories and our miseries made them underestimate us at least.

Think Afghanistan and Pakistan also have a bit of that too. A level of arrogance especially when their tails are up. Maybe it gives them that extra edge especially in 50-50 situation.

Pakistan have dignity though, you can see they respect their opposition. Afghanistan and Bangladesh appear to mock their opposition more.
Even Mahmadulla's post match words never congratulated Zimbabwe; was nice to see Hammie have a sly dig about our spinners being better than theirs.

I always remember the comments made by Tamim Iqbal about Zimbabwe playing average cricket in their comeback test match in 2011, and then got out to a horrible shot. Taylor went to the press conference and said 'well his shot was pretty average wasn't it'

I'm just thinking about this stupid dance they do, or the send offs and the stares. Annoys me because they're not as good as they think they are

Hlw, I disagree with the title. I am a close follower of BD cricket. I nowhere saw any disrespect from any BD cricketer or any fan in this series. Even Kriterion was very happy in match thread watching Zim doing well. We always remember ZIM for their past co-operation with BD cricket. That cobra dance is mainly celebrated by spinner Nazmul. He does it everywhere (in BPL too). Zim fought well in this series. I am happy as close Zim follower.Best of luck!

Yeah I think so, but without Shakib and Tamim they've been exposed a bit haven't they.

Shakib and Tamim would probably let them back up arrogance with performance - just like Steyn in the ODIs, they have been around long enough to know that they can bully Zim. The other BD boys, not so much and they were caught out in this match.

From what I have seen from Bangladesh cricket in longer format, unfortunately it looks like they are unwilling to work hard and seems uninterested. Also they are a mentally weak side like South Africa, I believe. You need to dig deep, work hard and bat longer in tests. Their chief selector looks arrogant, that's for sure. I felt so surprised when he questioned the abilities of Tushar Imran who is a consistent perform in FC cricket.

Also I have never liked this Isam guy. I can't believe Ban doesn't have any good writer for Cricinfo. His writing are always biased, annoying and it looks like he has some ulterior motives. The Dhaka Tribune / The Daily Star sports writers are way better than him. Even other writers from Cricinfo churn out much better articles about Bangladesh cricket than him. He's definitely not doing Ban cricket any favor according to me.

Isam: What's the point of the Bangladesh-Zimbabwe Test series?

But what do the players get out of doing well in this Test series?

Will it be a contest?

Will there be context?

I wonder what he has to say now.

It's just my opinion. No disrespect or nothing against anyone. Bangladesh is a much improved side in ODIs and also had test wins over Eng, Aus, SL but these are the things that come to my mind.

Not saying the fans, I'm referring to the cricketers. There's a cocky feel to the way they go about things and I find it funny, because they aren't good enough. They have a handful of solid cricketers in their pool

I agree. Actually BD cricket fraternity is illusionalised. Maximum players are overhyped by BCB, BD media. Players like Mahmudullah has played more than 10 years. Got only 1 test hundred. Not only players, board & media thinks we are more capable than we actually are. However, this test loss has come as shock. Comparing the facilities we got in BD plus home advantage, not many people thought we would be losing in test.

He was in daily star before joining cricinfo. Actually he likes to write article in different angle. His opinion varies from main stream. His writing backfired him.
