Compton, Hall, Chad Keegan, Beukes, Smith... what possessed these guys to play in the FC and List A comps?
There must have been a bit of money floating around in the Stanbic days, I wonder if they ever got paid though.

Nice holiday in a warm climate, none too testing cricket, and they did get paid.

Some became international players. I guess the opportunity to play cricket during the winter break in a different place is appealing to most. You get to learn a new climate and play on different pitches. You get to develop your skills and if you are on the outer with your country, the extra games and the extra time in the middle could go a long way to improving your game. A lot of these guys are also exposed to many coaches who are strong supporters or cricket in SA and Zim who would have given them advice to play in such tournaments.
Money and the structure of the league was definitely better then too.

It would be great if we could once again get some decent county players into the domestic system to help teach the youngsters and bring up the standard of the overall competition.
Another idea which would cost less and possibly be much more beneficial would be to work out some type of 'player exchange' with Bangladesh or even Sri Lanka where we send 5-6 players to play in their domestic competition and they send the same amount back to play in ours. Win-win for both as you get to expose some of your best young talent to foreign conditions whilst also exposing your domestic players to quality overseas guys.

ZC aren't interested in developing the game as simple as that by now they could easily settled a team from Zimbabwe in South African domestic cricket like Namibia. There isn't a clear picture how they declared board is out of funds and again within few days ICC declares ZC's fund problem solved.
And it has been 8 to 9 months now, Zimbabwe A team games haven't been held since their last tour of UAE. Ex Conveyor of selector Taibu gave huge importance to A games but now no one has taken any measure to arrange A games.
ZRS signed similar kind of MOU with Vidarbha Cricket Association in India, but promishing ZRS got scrapped, nothing could happen unless the administration comes good as the whole game depends about 60% on cricket board of any nation.
History says, Zimbabwe Cricket had tough time whenever Makoni took over as head of the game in Zimbabwe.

I totally agree with that. What a terrific idea - that's the sort of out of the box thinking ZC needs.

Great ideas, as also A team tours, but the painful truth is that the ICC terms for settlement were extremely stringent, and there is just no money for these at the moment, and probably for quite a while yet.

There’s last of things ZC could do to help the situation.

That’s why we need to understand how we went from +$10m to -$20m in such a short space of time and see the bank statements, invoices and receipts and employee wage sheets because that’s not possible without major skullduggery. It doesn’t matter if Jesus signed off on it, there’s a problem here.
