Harare - Andy Blignaut was named coach of the Logan Cup's Midwest Rhino's with immediate effect Thursday, his first cricket role since quitting ZC team over being overlooked for Prosper Utseya in the Junior Age group divisions in 2015.

Blignaut said returning to the Rhino's, was a chance to "come back to where it all started" after his bruising experience with the national team under the rebellion cloud in 2005.

"I think you learn a lot about yourself during the dark times and for me it's all about enjoying the game," he told reporters.

"I've fallen in love with the game again, so I'm really looking forward to getting back working with some young guys with a lot of talent."

Blignaut, or 'Bliggie' as he was affectionately known, was a right-arm fast-medium bowler, also known as a hard-hitting batsman, whom on his Test debut, took five wickets in the first innings against Bangladesh in Bulawayo in 2001.

Blignaut later quit, along with much of Zimbabwe senior playing group, accused of overseeing a toxic culture that allowed a win-at-all-costs mentality to flourish.

"That hurt a lot of people didn't it, all of us involved," he said when asked about the affair.

"Obviously it's time to move on though isn't it?"

The 40-year-old was emphatic when asked if he had any desire for international coaching.

"No. I'm not travelling 100 days away a year and I don't think my wife would let me," he said.
