What I'm thinking is you might find ZC and Dave have talked about getting back in the ZC groove with a season of Logan cup coaching, followed by allowing him another county season before taking up a decent 3/4 year deal to coach the national team as his career swan song if he goes ok.
Maybe that's too smart for ZC to strategise, although the Streak deal went on a similar trajectory.

If he brings Ballance, that alone makes it worth it.

It might be really unfair to our current coach, but if we are planning for Pakistan to be a regular opponent, having a coach barred from entry (even if no fault of his own) makes his position closer to untenable. ZC can't have looked too kindly on what just occurred, considering the money he gets from them.

Lock the Goats in for another title with DH involved

I can only imagine the positive affects he will make on young batsman like Kasuza

To fuel ZIMDOGGY's fancy further:

May be the bone of contention for Houghton to take it up is assurance of national team captaincy for Ballance :D

David Houghton is going to coach the Mountaineers.
That's interesting.
I wonder if he's either been quietly spoken too or posturing for a national team contract?

He is in his 60s in a game that's favouring young energy so his county days might be close to done, either by choice or force.
The Indian must be on his last legs just going off previous years.
He probably wants to help Zimbabwe refind its feet between now and his 70th bday.
