From ODIs to Bus stops

I remember Wadington. One of the guys who was identified as a potential International regular, was then thrust in to the side after ZC stole things and the rebel walkout. Was then convicted by the courts for something that Bvute and Chingoka did but were cleared of. Was one of the guys badly affected by the quota system.

I don't think I have watched much of Waddington Mwayenga, but he did not come across as a very bright prospect in his group from what I vaguely remember. John Ward's bio of him at Cricinfo says he was spotted by Bill Flower and some really good words for him there. Anyway, at least he has a career elsewhere and good to know. A guy I think we really lost (due to run-ins with the admin) was Brighton Watambwa. Express pace and a lot of promise.
This Suraj Randiv's career was over once he was found to be flexing his elbow more that 15%. He could never recover his bowling after that I guess. Was a decent all-rounder from memory. But while folks like Akila Dhananjaya worked on their action and came back, this guy just faded away...

I always kept an eye out for for an international comeback from Waddington Mwayenga, back in the day where these ‘lost players’ would just randomly turn up on a scorecard.
But we never saw him return, I always liked his name, just seemed really odd & cool. I guess that’s part of what drew me to Zimbabwe cricket, the cool & sometimes odd sounding names
