Now that Rajput has got an extension let's just hope it comes good.

He made some brave changes in the Europe tour and after a long time Zimbabwe tasted some success. Let's not forget some impressive one off wins over Pakistan and Bangladesh as well and a test win over Afghanistan.

I'm just trying to be positive here. I hate that he has got an extension but there is absolutely no pont in crying over it now.

Rajput getting an extension tells you all you need to know about this board. They don't care about progression. They are happy with their yes man.

How could anyone come back from that Ireland/Scotland tour and think things were fine.

They talk about wanting to compete at the T20 and CWC, but that will not happen with this man in charge. We struggle against the associates, so there is no chance that he will be challenging the big boys.

Also has no one even noticed that Rajput has achieved extremely little in his entire coaching career?

He was the team manager - not coach - when India won the first T20 world cup in 2007. But remember T20 was all a bit of a laugh and a joke then anyway. And he wasn't even a coach. And it was 14 years ago. Since then he's spent most of his time organising fixtures as a secretary in Mumbai and as a spokesperson for the Mumbai cricket association. He had a short stint with Afghanistan when they couldn't hire anyone else at the time. They binned him off pretty quickly too.

How has he actually managed to get a job with a Test playing full member as Head Coach? And how after dismal results for three years has he now managed an extension ffs?

Maybe he's got some incriminating photos of Takemore and Mukuhlani playing with each other in a back room at the ZC offices or something. :o
This is eye opening!
I just assumed he was another Dav Whatmore/Geoff Marsh type that had an esteemed background.
Turns out he’s a fraud.

Rajput was a part of coaching staff for Mumbai Indians for a few years, I think.

Ahh yes. In the first season I think, but got fired after being seen laughing during slapgate; https://gulfnews.com/sport/cricket/harb ... 1.61556127

So so far we've got;
Mumbai cricket secretary and spokesperson early 2000's
India U19 coach for 3 months in 2006
'Team Manager' of India during 2007 World T20
Sacked as Mumbai Indians coach 2008 for failing to control his players
Director of a cricket academy in India
Afghanistan coach for 13 months 2016-2017

India-residing, part-time Zimbabwe Head Coach May 2018-present

Has done very little of note for the entire decade before getting the job here really. Surely we could attract someone with a better CV than that?

Dave Houghton was/is the right guy for the job, there's some symmetry about it. He was instrumental in getting us onto the world stage and he's back 30 odd years later when we are realistically hanging on by a thread, let nobody tell us that we're not.

ZC have not provided an official statement on Rajput as yet. It's a shambles or an organisation.

We all know Rajput is a yes man. He will not develop the team nor grow it in any way. ZC are happy to have a yes man who does not challenge them nor ask of them to do any work. Why have a coach who asks for cricket balls and a strong retention policy when you can get one who buggers off to India and does not care what you do.

And there's still no official thank you note to BT too  Shambles indeed. Obviously that thank you is not coming, we'll see what happens on 6th Feb at least.
