Should we lose 3-0 in the SL series, will this guy remain in charge?

Slowly becoming our longest serving coach for no good reason at all.
Well we've given him a 2-year contract extension and I doubt ZC can afford to pay him off. So looks like we are stuck with him until 2023, unless he decides to leave himself.

Hate him so much.

Has to be the luckiest man in the worked. Fail on all your KPIs for 3 years then get rewarded with another 2 years  . Goes to show the level we at as a cricket nation. A glimpse of the government also.

You'd think an independent (I doubt there's such a thing) journalist would just ask Mukhulani the question-
How is this guy still here?

"We're in a rebuilding phase, he has a vision and he needs time" I guess would be the stock answer. The truth of the matter is that Madhevere and Shumba showing some promise probably saved the guy, or was the excuse to extend his contract because he's cheap and pliable and conveniently never around. He's probably trying to figure out how to Video Coach so he can do it from home and stay out of Raza's way. He'd need to be fairly well paid and if he's got sense he will be saving every last penny because there's no job in cricket of consequence anywhere for him after this.

I think the KGB are more transparent than ZC.

After our fairly recent debacle with Phil Simmons… a less than average coach gifted a cushy long-term contract only to produce a string of terrible results, leading irregular dismissal -> long drawn, legal challenges, more global humiliation (as if we didn’t/don’t have enough to deal with as is)

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/simm ... atform=amp

We didn’t learn a damn thing…long -term contract to a bad coach, apparently with no performance clauses. Now we are stuck with this dud for years to come. He shouldn’t dare take credit for the emergence of Madhevere and Shumba, that had nothing to do with him. Wasn’t Gregg Lamb the U19 batting coach for Myers-Madhevere U19 but team?? Why doesn’t he get some credit? Now Rajput is being praised due to merely holding the post “coach” when these kids emerged

How many Matebeleland Tuskers matches has Rajput attended?? Which gem has he unearthed that this forum was not privy to? Has he used his Indian-ness to arrange much needed lucrative bilateral tours of any format? Couldn’t he even get domestic Indian teams to tour us or arrange for a Zim A team to tour India and play thier domestic teams, we did this once a decade ago.

Let me attempt to answer these questions…Rajput doesn’t give a damn about Zim cricket. He is as much a mercenary as the global T20 mercs, he is just in it for the paycheque, and given that he is also currently coaching an IPL team, I would hazard a guess that ZC $$ is supplementary income for him hence this being Zimbabwe, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that he is putting a little something in a ZC officials pocket!! There’s no justification whatsoever as to why he still has a iob

He's not even stepped foot in Zimbabwe since the day they departed for the Ireland tour. Presumably he might be arriving around about now for the pre-SL camp?

He's got the cushiest job in world cricket:

Sit at home in your home country and do nothing most of the year whilst picking up a full-time salary. Jet in for the occasional series and coach a team with zero expectations, for a boss (the board) who seemingly isn't that bothered how you perform anyway.

Conduct about 6 interviews a year with Givemore's cousins and old schoolmates who also happen to be the only active cricket journalists in the country.

No need to bother with domestic cricket.

Occasionally stumble upon a gem or two from our miracle-working schools, and then claim that is your 'philosophy' and needs more time.

Get a new 3-year contract with a pay rise.

Nice work if you can get it hey

In the event that the Bennet brothers, Mitchell, Bawa and other u19 players do the extraordinary next month, are we really going to condemn them to Rajput “coaching” as they navigate the delicate devise between youth and pro-cricket?? If these kids are contemplating moving to the UK, doe’s Rajput care enough to convince them otherwise?

The big problem for most u19's is getting a franchise slot immediately after the WC. The only guys that really walked into it were Shumba and Madhevere, others have struggled.
ZC need to be more pro-active in this regard. The standard needs to improve and there's a lot of dead wood in our system.

ZC have made a big blunder by hanging onto Rajput. People are not happy. You can only take so many liberties before it backfires.
