Haha wtf.

So he’s happy to pick up a salary from the Taliban? After all he did fighting political injustice in Zimbabwe? For someone so principled, this is a pretty unprincipled move.....

It's like what Ricky Gervais said at the Golden Globes -
If ISIS started a streaming service you fuckers would get your agents to call them!

The former Zimbabwe Captain Andy Flower has joined the Afghanistan cricket bubble ahead of starting his consultancy role with the team for the T20 World Cup 2021.

This is not an indictment against anyone for decisions made.
But money has no conscience.
The behaviour of ZC should be testimony of this.

The Taliban are guaranteed to be meddling in their cricket already and the future of their women's cricket is zero.

Rashid Khan resigned as captain with immediate effect because he was not consulted on selection, there's proof in itself. He had it in his contract, bold move for a supposed 24 year old.
Flower will be adding temporary legitimacy to something that surely has to tip upside down sooner rather than later, he's good at that. I'm sure they will be offering him a chunk of cash. If they go down 9 zip they might cut his head off.
Flower actually put Takashinga on the map and despite what happened at ZC, Takashinga owe him big time, they wouldn't have won a single game without him and there would probably be a very different look to our cricket without the dominance of bang average Taka's players always getting selected.
I'd be surprised if he gets those Afghan players to match to his military tune unless the Taliban let him coach with a long knife in his hand

Flower would obviously have been in the UAE for the tournament. He was probably approached by the Afghan board to help as a consultant. We don't know the inner workings of the deal, so can't really speculate.

We all know Flower would be great for Zim, but ZC are too arrogant to want to mend hatchets or build bridges. Bill Flower was a pioneer for cricket in this country and ZC have just taken it and made it their club. No way they want to give back to the Flowers.

I see some female Afghan soccer players who were in Pakistan have been given UK visas because they claim (rightfully) that they're at grave risk if they return home.
The one -off Afghan Aussie test appears to have been called off because of their stance against women's cricket and there's a fair chance that a couple of the big teams may boycott their T20 matches against Afghanistan in the WC.
It does seem very odd that Flower is going down this rabbit hole, there's no obvious upside.

What with Wokeness being as it is, he could possibly find himself with limited prospects after this.
ICC are going to be under some pressure to make a statement fairly soon about their stance, they're morally bankrupt themselves so they'll spin a yarn initially. It's a very interesting development and I'm sure is going to benefit us.

I think the PCB was ready to hand the Pakistan national team coach job to Andy Flower on a platter a few months ago and if the rumors are to be believed, he refused it to make himself available for short term gigs around the world? Historically, the PCB top job has been a bit of a dead end for coaches with the Pak team continuing to remain mercurial and unpredictable, and also given that he might have had to spend a lot of time in the country, it was a practical decision. So too is this one. A payday for a short stint.

What amazes me is, what makes these cricket boards think that they can bring someone on as a consultant for a month and they can make a difference? Surely, they know that is not possible? For the coaches, they have no hesitation in taking it up because they can never be blamed for not getting the results. They can just brush off any criticism saying that it was a very short stint. It is a win-win for the coach and no gain for the boards. Crazy, if you think about it.
