PJ Moor is now giving a tight slap to those who thought he is average and is below Regis Chakabva. He should have been regular in shorter format but became victim of politics, deserved backing from selectors in his hard times, which they give to their favourite players. At present Zimbabwe doesn't have any aggresor at the lower order that costed them against Pakistan after stage was set by Wes and Marumani.

Does Zim lost another talent to other nation ? Moor getting the chance to lead the side will also raise this question. A foreign player leading a domestic side is mostly seen in English County not in other nations.

Irish cricket is in rebuilding phase after retirement of few of their seniors, and they didn't have a quality keeper batsman after Niall O'Brien, addition of Moor will settle the issue of wicket keeper batsman position.
Right. PJ Moor is a match winner. He is way better than Chakava & Mutumbami.

In about 2024 after Moor's phase of eligibility.
Proteas allrounder in domestic cricket Ruhan Pretorius moved to Ireland in 2019 and played for Ireland A team against Bangladesh in 2020. Eligibility criteria might have changed

Just a last ditch attempt from my end - for people trying to compare Chakabva and Mutumbami with Moor:

We have seen enough of all 3 as "keepers" and Moor was as bad as Chakabva and Mutumbami with gloves, and has dropped many a chances when he was the designated keeper for a brief while. In fact, he was definitely worse as a "keeper" than Chakabva. Please observe - I'm not saying keeper-batsman, but just the keeper role. I don't see a point in comparing him with Mutumbami because anyway Mutumbami himself is not a regular in the XI and is slipping down very fast from even being a backup for Chakabva.

If there is an argument for Moor, it should purely be on the basis of Moor the batter. Chakabva is not holding a spot designated for Moor. Moor did not even regularly keep in the domestic scene to get considered as a keeper. This is like saying Kasuza should be the keeper because his Cricinfo bio indicates that he has kept wickets at some point and that he would do better than Chakabva anyway.

With all the injuries that happened in the last couple of tours, Moor would have probably made it to the national team as a batsman anyway if he had stayed around. He chose not to wait for his turn and decided to try his luck elsewhere, which is perfectly fine from his point of view. We seem to forget the form he was in when he got dropped in the first place from the team - he was struggling to get runs nationally and domestically too. The only thing one can complain about is the lack of communication from ZC, and that is a common issue and not specifically targeted at Moor anyway.

So all this talk of Moor has been monumentally wronged or he should replace Chakabva is hilarious!

When I referred to 2024, it was assuming he didn't have any Irish family connections. If you have a grandparent of Irish descent, that will speed up the process, perhaps as in Pretorious' case.
But Moor last represented Zimbabwe in October 2019, so it may come down to when he makes a committment to Ireland & maybe resides in the country.

Zimdoggy, I beg to differ in your comment that Craig Ervine failed when he played in Ireland.
He played for Northern Knights for 2 seasons &, in their Championship matches (what would become first class), ended up with 371 runs in 7 innings(one not out) from 5 matches at an average over 60. This included one century & 3 fifties.
He didn't play in the white ball competitions for the Knights.
Did he?
Must admit I never checked his stats but I could have sworn the talk here at the time was he was struggling.
It was very vivid to me because a lot of people were making comments like ‘just shows the grass isn’t always greener’ etc.

Yes I was expecting him but didn't perform as per the standards in domestic so not a big shocker either

The truth is he has been struggling for consistency for years. You can't change leagues and think suddenly things will be better. There is clearly an issue with his technique.
