What really impressed me was his speed and the willingness to execute the yorker. Im Sure he can it the high 140s in no time.

Sure, but you could say starc and archers secret weapon are their pace.you still need to be able to control the pace. If being highly critical, an example is shaun Tait who didn't always have the control. With high pace also comes strain on body and injuries which need to be handled carefully.slcricfan1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 2:53 pmexpress pace is lowkey overrated, you dont see guys like boult or Cummins bowling that much over 145
Zimbabwe Cricket have lost 2 basic talent producing factory. One is those pace bowling allrounders which they used to have in bunches in 90s and fast bowlers like Olonga,Zimco wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 2:22 pmSure, but you could say starc and archers secret weapon are their pace.you still need to be able to control the pace. One of the hardest things for a batter is a real fast bowler and then a spinner or a highly accurate pacer at the other end. Wickets can often come at the other end.
Real fast bowler also can blow away tail. Zimbabwe don't have an out and out quick.
Yeah nice pointZimco wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 2:22 pmSure, but you could say starc and archers secret weapon are their pace.you still need to be able to control the pace. Have a fast bowler is like having a specialist number 3 bat. It adds depth to your side
Good for him, its great seeing our criminally-underpaid stars getting lucrative global T20 opportunities. Did anyone else from Zim get a contract or at least throw their hats in the ring?secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 2:00 pmThey've resigned him in the auction/draft thing today. Good on him.
I think that point was valid during the pre-2010. When the ICC started allowing bigger bats (high surface area)..as well as expanding fielding restrictions, smaller boundaries, powerplays, free-hits etc, military medium pace is an invitation to get smacked, even "bowling machines" like Shaun Pollock, McGrath would struggle to maintain "respectable" stats. I think seamers need to bowl in the upper 130s with the occasional slower ball, to be competitive these daysZimco wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 2:22 pmSure, but you could say starc and archers secret weapon are their pace.you still need to be able to control the pace.
