If we get this age groups playing competitively then we will have solutions foir our problems . Our First class will be top shelf , obviously then feeding into Zim A then National team

True. If we get our Under 15s, say, to compete competently with SA, then we can project that if we don't lose any of them and they maintain a competitive edge then 8 to 10 years later we should be at the same level with SA at senior level, no?

The key thing is that we don't lose any. It is always going to be difficult for Zimbabwe to hang on to its young players - particularly the white ones. Maybe others on the forum can speak with more knowledge about the white diaspora from Zimbabwe - but I gather many whites are still choosing to leave the country.

I too would like to know the answer to the bolded part,
Maybe a white forumer - someone on ground zero (HHM?, Zimdan?) could provide a little insight into the current psyche of the greater community.....?
Or a black/asian forumer on what they see day to day, im very curious on life in zimbabwe in 2011.
I dont think ZCF realise how big a problem player poaching is going to be. I think we will manage to hang onto the decent ones that can hack international cricket ( in the modern day,im referring to the Taylor, Cremer, Prosper, reborn Mpofu type of players) but God help us when we unearth a world class player that has talent evident from a young age....England and SA are going to have their greasy fingers in the pie here ( as per Goodwin, ervine, etc) especially if there kolpak qualified!
And as recently discussed elsewhere- ZC dont seem to care much about those in the diaspora.
Its my
biggest worry with zimbabwe today, just you watch and remember my words......
It actually makes me appreciate Andy flower even more, staying loyal when everyone wanted a piece of his petals.

I am working in Mozambique at the momenta nd only get to go back to Zim ever 2 months or so, but in general for the white community that i know the first course of action is always to try get their Kids out of the country for an education first. For example Malcom Waller had to do a plumbing trade and when he was qualified then he could play cricket as his career. His parents wanted for him to have something to fall back on.
I went to St Georges at the same time as James cameron and De gandhomme, our side was unbeaten for something like 2-3 years at the time and yet not a single one of those guys is in the country, except Gareth Hook. I look at my year and if there are 6-7 people, Black and White from the class of 80 odd in Zim i would be very surprised. It's just seems like if you have the money, no matter what the color of your skin is you send your kid out and if they want to come back they will. It's changing but in the past not too many people wanted to come back. In the last year though i have seen a couple mates return, mostly after getting their degree or passport out of another country.
Thats just what i see.
