3rd ODI: Zimbabwe vs Ireland

Post by CholeZimbo »

Always drama in Zim cricket, so many stop starts over the last 17 years. From fixtures being a problem to then getting many fixtures, covid happened. From dismally failing to qualify for the world cup in t20 to missing out on this t20 world cup for silly reasons. Struggling to field our best 11 after finally discovering a generation of good players due to some unfortunate and silly reasons. Just when we finally feel we can have them all together for another 2-3 years, BT our most important player for many years decides to quit. As a fan, this has really been emotionally taxing, and the future really is in doubt now.

However, the show must go on! Today still is an important game for us and a must win. We should bat first today regardless of the conditions.

Google's forecast changed! showeing very little chance of rain.

I still expect at least some rain though. Hopefully we get a result and ideally one with at least 35-40 overs per side.

Yep. 30% chance now. But I guess the problem is their drainage. 30 minutes of rain can ruin the whole game.

Important t 10 points up for grabs here, let's not forget direct qualification is one thing but if Zim win today they very realistically improve their chances of NOT finishing 13th.

Not sure hey. If fit, then he could be in for Shumba. Hard on Shumba though, didn't get to bat in the 1st game.

Yes I saw this as well. Even the hour by hour forecast looks OK now. Hopefully we give BT the send off he deserves. Come to think about Elton is the only guy I remember retiring in a subdued manner. Hami went crazy in his final game

Yeah, this game is done. Even if it stops raining, this ground clearly doesn't drain well.
