Always good to hear from a ZCF legend.

:D

Was watching the ZIM-SCO T20I and so was wondering about the backup wicket keeper slot.

We basically don't have one.

Regis has established himself as a key member of the dressing room and will be in the team for the next couple of years across formats.

Beyond that, there's barely any options as backup.

PJ Moor's keeping has declined significantly and he hasn't exactly been tearing it up in Ireland with the bat either, apart from 1 innings. Hasn't looked good enough for a couple of years now.

Mutumbami has had enough chances. The fact he is still number 2 tells you everything you need to know about our options currently.

Murray is going to give it another go at some point but he hasn't played for years. He might be able to get back to a good standard with the bat but keeping is very hard after a long break.

Joylord Gumbie & Tafadazwa Tsiga have not developed as hoped. Honestly they are pretty poor cricketers.

Then there's a few part time keepers like Kasuza or Marumani but they are pretty terrible with the gloves.

I forgot to add Clive Madande actually. Young kid from Bulawayo - he kept very well in the 50-over stuff for Tuskers last season and I think he had a few good starts with the bat too.

Tinashe Nenhunzi is the other young keeper in the system, although I don't know much about him tbh.

It's always mentioned that Murray hasn't played in years but wasn't he playing for his Uni? May not be a high level but at least he's played

Yeah but I don't think he's played anywhere since he graduated 12-18 months ago.

There was a kid named Adam Kefee in Zim under 19 world cup squad 2016. Some sources said that he had 18 tons at junior level cricket.

Streak was in high praise of him regarded him as future wicket keeper batsman for Zimbabwe

Yea Keefe was a gun. He was seen training with the Tuskers for a while in 2017, but nothing came of it. Shame really, he could really bat. Not sure that he was a keeper though
