In fact this coming domestic season we should push for certain players to perform specific roles.

Burl, Myers, Wes and Shumba should bat in the top 4. Jongwe and Evans should bat at number 7 or even 6. Marumani should keep. Burl showed also get a lot more overs in. Nyangani should get regular game time. Things like that. There has to be a plan
It’ll still be a glorified club competition, the national team players won’t be bothered, and all the ‘never gonna make it’ club players will be trying to get themselves a cricinfo page
so is the best way forward to decrease the amount of teams even more?
Yes and no. In an ideal world, yes. 5 is too many. The quality is too low.

BUT having that many teams is the only way we are gonna get youngsters having a chance domestically. There’s loads of very average/poor seasoned pros who turn up and fill spaces every year and are never ever going to make the national team but they keep turning up and getting picked.

So there are positives and negatives about the 5 team system.

In an ideal world we’d have a strong NPL and a strong year-round club system with maybe just three very high quality first class sides.

But that isn’t going to happen and this is Zimbabwe so tbh 5 teams is sadly probably for the best at the moment.

Evans should bat 4 or 5, he's good enough. They should also include the u19 boys that went to Namibia, they're also good enough. May as well play the extra team, the standard won't improve by taking one side out.

With NPL 9 teams should conduct domestic cricket for 6 months. with one month of NPL wat will be use. with high number of teams completion also good for players. We will get good players from across the country

Why can’t the NPL be expanded and run alongside the first class comps? We really need a proper national club system again. Get way more teams and clubs involved - let any fucker play in the NPL. Maybe 20 or more teams and play it every weekend over a 4 or 5 month period.

Have 3 first class teams running alongside it and allow fluidity for players between the two systems.

Club cricket and grassroots cricket really matters.

There are lot of ICC events comming and Zimbabwe should take it seriously with proper vision. They should start playing more shorter format cricket at domestic level in flat tracks that will help to set up high totals and also enable to chase high totals, that will make them learn the modern aproach of shorter format cricket

Except England, Zim will not get seam swing friendly conditions any where, sub continent teams plays in spin friendly or flat pitches that assist batsman, in downunder there are dropping pitches which are also known for getting big totals.

Zim should give more effort in developing spinners both finger and wrist spinners, pacers should learn the art of knuckle bowl, cutters, slowers, yorkers, bowl with a tap bowl that will help them to get the ball faster in air .If they make this sort of developments they are definately doing well in upcomming ICC events

It will be Mutumbami for a couple of years I think.

The wicket keeper pool isn’t great, nobody of real National quality.

I like Gumbies glove work but he is a number 8/9 bat at best.

Murray and Moor won’t come back so we will be praying for a young keeper to come through that sticks with us.

I like Saul, think he has potential but is a few years off.

Mutumbami is pretty average but can have the odd good game.

Hoping Chakabva sticks around another 3 years or so.

Will be interesting to see if Matsiwe, Madande, Nenhunzi or Tsiga can have a good season and step up.

If Mutumbami is still considered part of the plans then I highly doubt poor young Saul will want to stick around after his experiences in Namibia with him sadly.

Why what happened in Namibia
The three young white boys being ignored and not invited to team gatherings/meals by some of the senior players including Richmond and Chamu.

And I heard a story of Richmond being blind drunk one evening on the same tour and being very aggressive to some young players - black and white - and then missing training the next morning.

Always has been a bit of a prick. Remember him and some other Rocks players having a drunken night singing racist pro-Mugabe songs last season lol.
