Steven trenchard

In this thread we determine whether he is zimbabwean eligible or not.

The facts as I know it;

- S.African born
- never played first class cricket before 2010 for the tuskers.
- no other record before this according to google. Appeared from nowhere.
- cricinfo lists him as 'Zimbabwean' but the credibility of that is in question.

He could be a good depth batsman if he's Zimbabwean.

I shall also add that I think it would be strange to import a player that has never played first class cricket. What would he bring to the table? He'd be the only one in that boat as well.

That makes me believe he flies the zim flag.

Intresting thread! Trust Zimdoggy to come up with such!

Andy Flower did wonders for us, and he's SA born, so I think we might come right with this one. To be quite honest he does look like he's gradually improving from last season, and to honest I have been critical of him many a time in the past but he's coming up fine.

Would help if they bat him up the order, ahead of Keith at least - Craig at 4, Steve at 5. All of them shoul dmove upa place as soon as Hortno leaves - PERMANENTLY!

I count him as Zim, because he has only played in Zim. Not that my opinion counts for anything on this one.

I agree with Hhm, he should be ahead of Dabengwa in the order.

Trenchard appears to have played for Wimbledon in the Surrey Premier League in 2010 according to Cricket Archive, while the ECB's Play Cricket site has a Steven Trenchard playing for a different Surrey league side in 2008.

Interesting,
But all that really means he's just a typical white dude getting out and about on the town.
I doubt he's English.
I also doubt that tuskers, being one of two jewels of the Logan cup, would import a random dude from surrey pub cricket. Also not to mention trench made his debut as a replacement mid game when someone got called up to the national team from memory.
Would houghton have imported someone to warm the bench?

Everyone should be ahead of Dabengwa in the order.

Curiously rather like Querl. I think Houghton finds these Zim qualified players who haven't yet caught the eye of full county sides (thus no temptation to wait for an England call up) and gives them their FC debuts, hoping that one day they will believe it's better to wear the Zim colours. I say let's play him in the A tours asap, then try him in the one day side should Waller/Ervine/Mutizwa/Raza fail.

Even if he were Zimbo, he has a long way to go before he can challenge for national colours. I can't really see where he'd fit in. He still has to get past Ewing, Ervine, Waller, Mutizwa etc even Stuey IMO.

In the 'A' side, definitely.
