Zimbabweans in the UK/Europe Club Cricket (2022)

Post by zimfan1 »

Thought it would be worthwhile to put together a list of all the players heading over to the UK this summer. Please post any more players who you are aware of heading to the UK/Europe.

I expect a number of players to pull out if they are selected for the "A" side etc. Interesting to note that Campbell, Tiripano, Evans, Munyonga and Muramani who all had UK contracts lined up have made themselves unavailable.

Roy Kaia - Svanholm Cricket Club (Denmark)
Tendai Chisoro - Kelso CC (Scotland)
Brian Chari - (Denmark)
Ainsley Ndlovu - Cannock CC (Birmingham)
Charles Kunje - Clipstone & Bilsthorpe CC (Nottingham)
Tinashe Chimbambo - Compton & Chandlers Ford CC (Hampshire)
Brian Mudzinganyama - Whittington CC (Staffs)
Prince Masurve - Horsley & Send CC (Surrey)
William Mashinge - Wellington CC (Shropshire)
Tinotenda Mutombodzi - Plympton CC (Plymouth)
Kudzai Maunze - Hadleigh CC (Kent)
Carl Mumba - Rye CC (Sussex)
Neville Madziva - Carlton CC (Scotland)
Innocent Kaia - Fordhouses CC (Birmingham)
PJ Moor - Munster Reds (Ireland)

It would be interesting to know what Divisions these clubs are. In my view anything below Div 1 is not a great standard of cricket, but I guess its more about the money. The standard payment seems to be between £150-£250 each week plus board and lodging, maybe the ticket is paid for and I think some coaching is expected, but don't know whether that's extra money for that. It's basically beer money - if you buy them at Tesco's!

Ainsley Ndlovu at Cannock CC is an interesting one, KP's old club so deffo a decent standard. The lads off to Scotland and Denmark will be playing a very average level of cricket.

I'm not surprised Evans & Marumani have pulled out - they both look pretty certain to be in or very close to the main T20 squad this winter. No surprises there. Tony Munyonga is probably a good bet for the A side (One of the nicest guys in the game btw. I really hope he kicks on and does well).

Tiripano - He might as well go to the UK. I think we have plenty of decent seamers now. Blessing, Ngarava, Chivanga, Nyauchi, Jongwe, Evans, Masuku, Mumba. Tiripano is about 10th choice!

Campbell - Hasn't really kicked on much. I don't see him being anywhere near the full side anytime soon. But I suppose with A cricket lined up plus the NPL, there will at least be cricket to be played this winter so it's not completely necessary to go abroad.

Think those two have decided not to go this year. Campbell Jr works for Daddy so may have decided to prioritise the family business and make the most of any opportunities cricket related over the Zim winter.

Running his academy/indoor centre.

Apparantly he has invested in the production of "superfoods" such as blueberries and is back farming.
