There'll be lots of the usual 'minnow bashing' and idiots saying the Dutch shouldn't be allowed to play etc.....but I can't remember anyone saying that when England scored 481 against Australia .

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/aus ... -scorecard
But then SZ, these are the kind of games that gives voice to these people.

Netherlands should be doing better, this is unacceptable. Total shambles and not worthy of a performance from a leading associate side. Probably the best associate side and that too at home.
Yeah this is a fair point. Feel for the dutch. Did decently against the Windies

Not really. If they had regular fixtures against the top teams every year for several years then they'd be better obviously. It's the same with Zim.

This is England's first ever ODI with the Dutch outside a world cup. That's embarrassing - England are the ones who should be embarrassed. They are literally next door to each other! Cricket is a ridiculous sport, with no interest in growing.

Like I say, England scored 481 against Australia and no one batted an eyelid.

Also the Netherlands literally have 7 first choice players missing because the English counties haven't released them

All the counties released their england players though

It's basically Netherlands 'A'!

Your points are valid mate but this is not a fair world, smaller teams have to make the most of such opportunities, we all know ICC and the Big 3 and how they will pinpoint such games to justify their 10 team WC, 8 team CT and all that shit. So my point is on that front.

remember Scotland beating England in a one off ODI not so long ago? Such games shut these people up.

This is a quality England one day side, especially in the batting. Look how deep they bat and many of the players are in hot form off the IPL.

You guys are missing the point here, we all agree that Netherlands and all associates along with Ireland, Zimbabwe are much better sides than this.

My point is that such games stand out... Now no one in my office or gym would follow an Eng-Net series normally but today everyone is talking about the kind of thrashing dished out as such games glaringly stand out and the ICC uses these very games as examples of reducing the number of teams in ICC events.

The Dutch could have prepared a bowling friendly track, 250 by ENg and 120 all out doesn't glaringly stand out, people dismiss it as yeah that happens but 498 stands out.

This does not do harm to Netherlands alone, it does harm to all associate nations, because it is generalized. It also harms Ireland and Zimbabwe because even though full members they are now literally regarded as alongside associates.

Do you think a normal cricket fan, unlike us, understands that some Dutch players were missing and all that, not at all. It is Netherlands playing and it is what it is.

I think you are reading too much into to it. England also made over 450 against Australia. That's sport, blowouts can happen. And I think the general sports fan understands that.

Overall it reflects worse on the ICC actually.
