ZFC Poets Corner

Post by PieChucker »

Seeing that there are no games coming for a while and realising that there are only so many things that we can say about the traitor Ballance and the Matsi Conspiracy, I decided to open up the ZFC Poetry competition.
Entries should be in Limerick form, but for those of us who don't know what a Limerick is, you can just bust a rhyme as you feel, or send in some twisted SMS rym..

Here's my opener...

Forumites still love to take digs
at the player we all call Chigs
His form is erratic
but Chigs is ecstatic
'cause he's farming a team of pigs!

ok, still warming up.. here's another

I'll tell you a true sad story
of the high hopes we had in Vitori
his figures were high
a world record was nigh
but alas, the wrong kind of glory!

over to you .... help me out here...

There was a young man named Kyle,
He'd barely been round a short while,
He took lots of poles,
Didn't satisfy our trolls,
And may end up top of the pile.

This game we call cricket
Has indeed caused a racket
We went down under
But found no power
When we got to two hundred
Kane was still around
He hit us out of the ground
He surely made his father proud
For us it was back to the drawing board

A great idea, and some great lines already :D

Here's my first ever try to write "poetry" in English:

When Prosper and Price get it right
They keep it ever so tight
They don't get much turn
Which is a concern
But they beat the batsmen with flight

... and now for the "Two Inevitables":

Ed Rainsford and Panyangara
Have never dismissed Brian Lara
They both broke their backs
on unforgiving tracks
Their pace "Gone With the Wind" like old Tara

Here's another one:

Taibu is the name of our keeper
Behind the stumps he's a speaker
He is rather small
Does not bat like a wall
But he sure is a hell of a sweeper

a simple way of saying the same thing ... in a different way :)

Whether Ervine or Williams or Gary
The decision to leave just don’t carry…
Will they make it abroad?
Or fall on their sword
When their county says “leave, do not tarry”

or this one!??

When touring with youngsters beware
To guard all expectations with care
Bet we’ll lose by an innings,
If you want to make winnings
And then spend it in the three days you ‘ave spare

one last little malicious dig... ;) :)

Doesn’t matter if we struggle to hide it
Or whether or not we abide it
If it has to be said
We can write it instead
In a lymeric - I have applied it!

toungue-in-cheek thread - like it!! :D
