Ok so we did very well against USA and I was very satisfied with our bowling strategy. It was very structured and I think who ever is helping with game strategies is doing a fantastic job.
Finally we can see some minor improvement in the batting and bowling I know it’s only Associates but we seem to be going in the right direction.
This should be a straight forward game, I would like to see the top batters being more consistent.
Zimbabwe vs Papua New Guinea T20 Qualifier 2020
Re: Zimbabwe vs Papua New Guinea T20 Qualifier 2020
Im a bit concerned if peeps think that all zimbabwe needs to do today is rock up to the match and we are through to world cup.
PNG have some dangerous players and we havent chased yet in the tournament. If PNG get 130+ if they bat first it may give us the wobbles.
Need to finish the job now and excel with bat and ball

I think Dave Houghtons message coming into the team telling them that they should be demolishing associate teams and winning this tournament is having some good impacts on players - especially the senior guys - yeah they haven't chased a total yet but they have comfortably won the first 3 games and have perhaps only rivalled by the Netherlands been comfortably a class above the other teams playing.
If they don't beat PNG today they would only have themselves to blame. What this tournament has told me is that Houghton is right that there is still comfortably a gap between Zimbabwe and the majority of the competitive associates and I believe that strides are going to be made in the next few years to help widen this gap further.
The majority of these teams are reliant on 2 or 3 match winners, Zimbabwe have about 5.

I agree with all of this. My point was that zimbabwe need to avoid complacency and keep doing what they have been doing and they should be more than ok.
Re: Zimbabwe vs Papua New Guinea T20 Qualifier 2020
Yeah completely agree with you there Donald, I think complacency was the norm under Rajput but I just don't see Houghton tolerating that sort of environment with the amount of experience he has had both as a player and a coach, especially haven been working on the county circuit in the UK.

In houghton we trust
I believe it was nick singo being interviewed on comme tary yesterday who said that the players love playing under David.
I have heard reports that Rajput allegedly formented a lot of discord amongst the players and created a bad team environment . Wiliiams has publically said as much and also have heard Raza privately had these same thoughts.

Re: Zimbabwe vs Papua New Guinea T20 Qualifier 2020
Zimbabwe are around the same odds to beat PNG as they were against the UAE 4 years ago. Very short priced favourites (Zim $1.11, PNG $6.25)
I have placed a bet of a couple of hundred dollars for a PNG win in order to get Zim through.
Unlike the UAE game, PNG have plenty to play for, so if we can get the basics right, that should be enough to put them under pressure and hopefully they crack.

Are the team sheets out yet?
So curious about the line up. Before DH I didn't give a fuck because you knew there was outside interference and half witted selections, but now we have to assume it will be more difficult to meddle and someone with a brain has input.
