Reckon that nick welch and also dusty melton should be low hanging fruit.
I would be excited to see welch in the 20 20 side at the world cup. He has the goods in that format
Someone reliable told me the other day that Melton is probably coming to try out for a franchise side here for sure. Injury-dependent though. A much less reliable source says that Welch has been offered a ZC contract but I'm not sure on that, seems a bit soon as we don't know his Leicestershire future yet.

Ballance rumours have been strong since the qualifier final last week and people are getting excited. But there are two big problems - his recent racism thing and how some people here might react, and secondly; his long-term (and expensive) contract at Yorkshire which still has three seasons to run.
Ballance and Yorkshire has mutual termination with a large settlement written all over it.
Well that's very interesting!

Still seems likely that Ervine, Williams, Chakabva and Raza will all retire next year either after the World Cup qualifiers or if we (miraculously) qualify then the World Cup itself. This latest injury to Chatara will probably shorten his shelf life further too.

So next year is when there are going to be a lot of vacancies in the national team and when the diaspora guys will really be in demand.

Raza and Ervine 36. Surely at least 2 years left?
Williams 35 3 years left
Chakabva 34. 4- 10 years left

Unless you have heard, that's not necessarily the case. Some guys just don't lose their skills as fast as others.
Stevens is 45

A fair amount depends on who replaces them. If there isn't anyone they can demand double the package and potentially a pension. A world first headline in 2032 - 4 pensioners continue to turn out for the 28th ranked Associate side, Zimbabwe. 2040- The mummified remains of M&M continue to chair and direct Zimbabwe Cricket, now ranked 45th.

  The last bit is quite possible tbf

Ervine will be 38 when the 2023 world cup ends.
Williams 37
Raza 37
Chakabva 36.

They are retirement ages. Also the end of world cup cycles tend to be when guys call it quits, and when teams start to refresh and build towards the following world cup.

Playing for Zimbabwe and being employed by ZC surely ages you a lot too. 10 years in that setup must feel like 20  . I wouldn't blame any of them for calling it a day. Ervine and Williams must have had enough of their shit by now. Raza can coin it for a couple of years in those random betting leagues in Bangladesh/UAE. Chakabva will be in a wheelchair in another two years he carries so many injuries and niggles.

That's when we are going to need these diaspora guys to form the backbone of the team, alongside hopefully a still-fit Blessing and hopefully much improved Wes and Milton etc. And build a decent team for the home world cup in 2027.

First prize for Chakabva will obviously be a post within ZC and he'll be the last guy they will look after.
Jarvis for some unknown reason is still employed.
All posts are filled so they'll have to invent one, but that shouldn't be a problem. At one point we had more staff than players, and we still can't be too far off that.
Raza, Williams and Ervine will not be getting a benefit year  nor offered a cushy number.
Can't ZC fall on their swords, like the Scottish Board?

Any update on Muzarabani's injury status? Can ae expect him to be there for Australia tour Or ar they going to play safe and get him in the WC itself?
