Does Gary's family live in Zimbabwe? If yes, then he might consider the switch provided he is serious about continuing his cricketing career, he has apparently got mental health issues, which I completely understand, and it is a very difficult situation to be in. I Wish Gary comes out of it.

I find it unlikely that he will continue with Yorkshire, either he calls it quits, or he decides to take up a new challenge with Zimbabwe. Just my thought though.
Pretty sure his folks are here. Has a brother that is working in the UK. Don't know about other siblings.

If he's got kids then there's no better place to raise a family.
I think his wife is English. The wives usually have the final say

200k!!!!! Fuck snakes!!
At least the lawyer would have taken half, his extended family 50% of the remainder and he'd have burnt through the rest. He'll have a dip at the ECB now. Easy money.

The timing is interesting. To me the timing says he's going to be in Yorkshire's XI for their next county championship fixture.
Ya I'm inclined to agree.

I really do hope that Ballance chose to play for Zimbabwe in second part of his career.
It would simply right for Zimbabwe to have one of the talents they belong to Zim.
Zimbabwe is slowly bbut steadily making strides to regain its status, Ballance would be an important asset to add to the squad.

We won the qualifiers, the Bangladesh series and ran India close largely due to the efforts of Raza.
The players are happier for sure, and it is absolutely a step in the right direction, but we are miles off having a team that can compete regularly with the big boys.
We're short at least two good batsmen, a couple of real quality spinners, our seamers need to be more consistent, our keeper/batsman is woefully inconsistent etc etc.

On the domestic front we're currently playing more cricket, which is essential and the bare minimum that's required, but its unlikely that anyone is going to magically emerge from this talent pool.

Our age group and school cricket still suck.
Theres no magic wand, it is going to take a long concerted effort to start showing improvement. Maybe this is the first of many steps, but we've seen and heard this all before. It usually fizzles out, the best thing to date has been Mr H as head coach. If they follow his lead and don't interfere  we should see some strides being made

He was given a 200k settlement
Just out of interest how much of that is Rafiq giving to the Jews?

Or is racism a one way street?

Nail on the head Googly.

Lots of good stuff over the past year but it needs to carry on for many years and they need to take further steps.

Bowling is good enough I reckon. Very harsh. Havent seen the Zimbo attack get torn apart in a long time. Even India hit less than 300 with Zimbabwe 2 quicks down. just need a couple of 30+ average batters to really cement being a top 10 side.

No it's not harsh at all. We have only one guy that bowls 135 plus and he sprays it and even our premier seamer, Blessing is not tight enough. No doubt he bowls a few wicket taking deliveries though. I'm hardly saying he's not good, I'm just saying he could bowl more consistently, especially when he's not giving it everything.
Our seam attack is middle of the road in international terms. The upside is that Ngarava and Blessing have capacity to improve and they're pretty decent already. We've played Afghanistan and India and their seamers were more threatening and more consistent, and we're about to get more of the same against Australia, yet we have two 6ft 8 giants. They can give us more, of that there's no doubt.

We don't officially have a specialist spinner, except for Wellington and our part timers generally do as good a job.
He's a decent player for sure.

Houghton interview in Australia today, asked about Ballance. Dave points out his wife is related to Ballance. Says he has 'things to sort in England' first including long-term contract with Yorkshire but that 'if he wants to come back, we'd certainly welcome him'.

Asked about other county players Dave says 'we aren't going to run around with piles of cash for guys we haven't seen play in Zim for years', but everyone is 'welcome to come and score some runs in domestic cricket and then get selected'.

He also said there is an aim to have two overseas (or overseas zimbo) players in every domestic XI this coming franchise season.
