Surprisingly nothing is mentioned about Williams's absence I hope everything is right there and he has not retired again
It's concerning. If he's not available for this series then I can't see how he'll be available for Australia.
I’m not. I think he will want to go to Australia.

Bad for the team that Ervine and Williams are missing. But bad individually for Blessing... The guy obviously has IPL ambitions and has been on the radar - this was the perfect shop window for him. Bowl well in three matches against India and suddenly you're well in contention for a contract. Especially as I see IPL franchises and Indian owners have been buying all the franchises in the new SA and UAE leagues too. Sucks for him to be missing this series.

Actually this really is shop window time for some of our guys. Series with India and Australia and then a world cup - two months to really put your name out there and get on the franchise circuit and make dollar. Someone like Raza might find himself a BBL gig or something, and I think Burl, Ngarava and Jongwe may have a future in lower level franchise stuff.

Should be good motivation. Even if we've not got any chance of winning matches, hopefully we can see some impressive individual performances from some of our better players.

Good to have Burl and Chakhabva back but in reality we needed williams back to really test the indians and have 25% of a chance.
Kaia madhevere snd Burl need to be more consistent in this series

This Indian lineup is better than the Bangladesh lineup. Not gonna show whether it was an anomaly
Still its a significantly weakened Indian lineup with Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah, Shami, Hardik, and Chahal missing. Thats a total of 6 guys. If you are not even looking to merely fight against the 2nd string lineup, then what is the point of playing? Remember we're not talking about beating India A, we're talking about just competing. SZ just wants to keep the losses to around 100 runs, which isn't really competing unless its 400 beats 300.

India is currently ranked 3rd in ODIs. So if you are ruling out even competing with them, it would also rule out England and NZ who are ranked 1-2. That doesn't leave too many other teams.
On the flip side, we're missing Ervine, Williams, Wellington and Blessing who all walk into the XI

Yeah, with smaller teams, a lack of key players will affect way more. For example take out Shakib out of Bd. Take Murali out of Sl. Take Lara out of west indies. Take Babar out of Pakistan. Then compare that to taking Warne out of Australia or Viv out of peak Windies.

India missing these players is still on par with NZ tbh. Its only comfortably worse than England, Australia and maybe the South africans. Also Kriterion you can`t really use Kohli lol. No kohli only makes India stronger

Ya the India squad coming to Zim would still give almost any side in the world a very good game. They have outrageous depth. It's not significantly weaker than the squad that just dominated the West Indies.

I think even our best XI would struggle, so considering we are missing 5 of our best players, it's probably going to be a bit grim. But I think that's okay at this stage, considering the players missing and that we are only two months into this big turnaround after 4 years of absolute shite.

Hopefully we can get a lot out of the series, even if we lose comfortably. There should be some good individual performances here and there, hopefully we should see the guys playing with the same positive attitude, and there should be lots of lessons learned to take forward to more winnable series.

But you never know.....a bit of Dave magic and some players full of confidence and belief, miracles can happen!

It's a real shame about Willo.
Sounds like he's battling some serious demons after the passing of his dad through cancer. Such a cruel disease.
