Sponsors just want to see their logos emblazoned all over the stadium. Once they pay the ZC, it really is up to ZC what they do with the money, so I'm not sure why the sponors would care where the money goes.

Some sponsors care about who they partner with and the image that represents for their brand. A sponsor also would do so because they want to see development and progress. If teams lose and are poor, there's no value in their sponsorship. Fans won't watch losers. That's why bigger teams in all sports have more lucrative sponsorship deals.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 4:30 amSponsors just want to see their logos emblazoned all over the stadium. Why do you think we have a substandard kit supplier? There is no value in it for brands. We don't sell kits and the team is rarely on the big stage.
We generally play at home and we are barely broadcast, so there's limited exposure. When we do broadcast, it's to a limited audience. Take the the last two series. T20 qualifier, and vs Bangladesh. None of these were broadcast significantly. Zim currently has Tourism Zim as a sponsor. How many international viewers would these series have had that would have seen that and thought, "Zim, never thought of going on holiday there, let's do that"
Not like the limited broadcast we do get is promoting the country anyway, not like broadcasts do in Aus or NZ or England or SA even.

Well maybe they want more than to see a sign with their corporate logo on it?
I agree that if a team is winning they're less inclined to worry about where their money goes, and that has happened. It may be our best winning streak ever and there is a bit of optimism in the air, but of course the smart money knows we played a chunk of those games against Associates. The big surprise for everyone were the wins against Bangladesh.
I see Zolsky is paying tribute to the amazing skills of Mr Makoni for finally organising some domestic cricket.

Our previous Minister of Tourism, Prisca Mupfumira , stole $92 million, and sadly for her was caught
Who are Tourism Zim? I'm assuming they are not part of the actual Ministry?

You'd be a fine and equally confused member of their Management.
Re: Zimbabwe squad for India ODI series
I wonder if it's the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority who are a sponsor?
They're a parastatal. That's a stretch them sponsoring a sporting team.
