Well they all play in the U.K. as local players.
If they suddenly played for Zimbabwe then their counties would have to register them as ‘overseas’ players and arguably none of them are good enough for that. Counties can only register 2 or 3 overseas at a time .

Interesting that Byrom and Ben Curran have not played any of the fifty over stuff.

Ben Curran's contract is up at the end of this year, if he is not playing in the fifty over stuff I can't see his contract being renewed.

Can't work out why Byrom has not played yet.

Byrom didn't make the squad apparently. Truly bizarre. A poor T20 comp didn't help, but they're not remotely the same. Glamorgan have only won 3 from 7, you'd think he'd get a shot. If they had let him open in T20 it would have been a different story. He's done well in the red ball though, technically superb by anyone's standards and you'd think that would have bought him a couple of 50 over games.

Is 50 over a speeded up 4 day game or a slowed down T20?

Ya Curran I don't think played any FC, did really well in T20, with most of his runs coming from paddles and sweeps. It doesn't matter how you get them, and he plays them well, but they never set particularly good fields to him, they were far more worried about the Aussie banging them from the other end. Maybe that was his game plan. I'd agree that a non appearance in List A doesn't look too promising.

It's the same with Muyeye, he's in and out and not doing a lot. They do this to most players unless you're a real senior player. It must be nerve wracking for these guys, especially come season end. The coaches themselves are also under scrutiny and very few of them will allow more than 3 or 4 shit innings before you get sent down. If your replacement has a good game you're fucked and now waiting for an injury  , what a shit way of making a living.

County players have to sit with the coaches for an end of season review around about now. They generally get told -
1. Not being re-signed
2. Possibly
3. Probably
4. Definitely.
Its a bit weird and must be mental anguish. If you're 2 or 3 and not getting games its trauma. There's also a window for them to approach other Counties. If one of the bottom 6 counties put you on notice (1 or 2) the odds are not good for another gig. Its not easy out there. Even poor net sessions count against you. It's tough on everyone, but imagine being 30 something, married with a couple of kids and you have a shit run, that's a major major source of stress. It's not like they've saved enough either, that's a privelege reserved only for a few elite players. There's also a chance of a big career ending injury at any stage.
It's not an easy life.

Masood from Derbyshire turned down their renewal offer recently. That guy is serious batsman and he clearly got another offer, probably Essex, that Derbyshire couldn't match. He's probably gone from 60k to 100k a year and Derbyshire are back to the drawing board trying to find a world class batsman. These small counties are in a no win situation.

Also fewer good kids come though their age group and academy because the really good ones often get scholarships to big schools affiliated with big counties. That's another problem. The bottom 6-10 counties are actually feeder systems to the big boys. Then you get morons suggesting they reduce the number of counties, not understanding that it will weaken their whole structure.
If it ain't broke don't try and fix it!!
