Regional List A Series 2022-23 | Northerns Vs Southerns

Post by secretzimbo »

Northerns: Ainsley Ndlovu, Brian Chari, Brian Mudzinganyama, Chamu Chibhabha, Donald Tiripano, Faraz Akram, Nkosana Mpofu, Spencer Magodo, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Tafara Mupariwa, Tanaka Chivanga, Tanunurwa Makoni, Tari Musakanda, William Mashinge

Southerns: Brandon Mavuta, Carl Mumba, Cephas Zhuwao, Charles Kunje, Ernest Masuku, Johnathan Campbell, Keith Jaure, Kevin Kasuza, Richmond Mutumbami, Tafdzwa Tsiga, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Timycen Maruma, Tinashe Muchawaya, Victor Nyauchi

Once again the names of the teams are going to annoy me as the allocation of players has nothing to do with geography

3 games, start tomorrow in Bulawayo.

- No place for Curran.
- Harsh not picking Mufudza.
- There were several seam bowlers with better stats in the Pro50 than Akram, Masuku and Tiripano.... :?
- Shingi not picked as presumably not being considered for international selection.....which says a lot about Chamu, Cephas, Richmond and Chari.......
- Truly depressing lack of batting depth.

Jonathan campbell must be an outside bet for the afghanistan series with his all round exploits especially in latest 50 over comp

This is why I really think PJ Moor is a big loss for Zimbabwe. Unless they bring back Welch, Byrom, Muyeye, Murray, Myers plus the Schadendorfs it’s going to be tough times ahead for Zimbabwe.

PJ's non-inclusion in this regional series says a lot about how much his relationship with ZC and specifically Hami has collapsed. I think he has very little chance of mending the bridges he has burnt, even if he is 'keeping his options open', which is the latest I've heard.

The most interesting thing about these games will be the battle of the wicketkeepers.

With Chakabva's unavailability going forward, that position really is for the taking now. Madande will suffer from having carried drinks for the past three months with no match practice. If Magodo/Mutumbami/Tsiga put together a couple of good innings this week they'll probably be elevated into the national squad.

To be honest I think we will probably just have to give all of the keeps a go against Afghanistan and see who puts their hand up.

As for Curran surely if they picked Tari then he deserved a longer run.

Got a feeling Chamu will try out for the middle order. Maybe number 5 or 6.. he struggles against international standard spin so that will be interesting
