He was Southern Rocks head coach and an on-off assistant coach for the men’s national team, as well as recently a national selector.
He won four consecutive Logan Cups (3 with Mountaineers, and then with Rocks) and was universally liked and respected as a very good local coach.

Oh no! RIP Shepherd.
I know he was a dedicated coach and had some pretty high level coaching qualifications. Did a lot for the juniors too.

Really sad news. Was just 46 too
Makunura (46) succumbed to illness at a private hospital in Harare.
Makunura is survived by his wife, Sinikiwe Mpofu, a former Zimbabwe international cricketer who is the current Zimbabwe senior women’s national team assistant coach, and two children.

Probably the most likely next black head coach of Zim.
Unfortunately a couple of other very good local coaches have emigrated this year also, to add to this sad death.
