Well,I hv no idea abt it.I reckon brmtaylor.com admin can tell abt it in details.Kopje wrote:Do we have the Logan Cup, Faithwear Series and Metbank20 this year???
But I intend to see some of the former players back in domestic action in Zimbabwe.Players like Mark Vermeulen should be given chance to play FC cricket in Zimbabwe while
Brendan Taylor,Charles Covemtry,Barney Rogers,Douglas Marillier and Tinashe Panyangara should return to Zimbabwe to play FC cricket. They all are the players of new generation(except Marillier who ages 30).But I know my intention isnt going to happen really

Re: Domestic Tournaments 2009
Mark Vemeulen should have been given a chance in the Zimbabwe team at least, we needed the experience. ZC seems unoforgiving, they wouldn't let him play for Westerns sometime back, i think he still has a lot to offer.Detective RDS wrote:Well,I hv no idea abt it.I reckon brmtaylor.com admin can tell abt it in details.Kopje wrote:Do we have the Logan Cup, Faithwear Series and Metbank20 this year???

I really hope ZC can organise these tournaments properly. They are essential for the deveolpment of the game. However, the fact that the National League got cancelled, and seems to be showing no signs of starting up again is a very bad sign.

Re: Domestic Tournaments 2009
I would be pretty surprised if the domestic tournaments didn't take place. As an ICC full member it's expected (if not required) that you run domestic competitions. There was one year that the Logan Cup wasn't played, but even that year there was a Faithwear contest.
Over the past few years the domestic games have been taking place as late as June, so I expect we'll see something probably by late March or early April.
In club cricket, the National League has been cancelled due to lack of funding. All news about the Vigne Cup has dried up as well, but that's not to say it was cancelled also. The competition was facing some serious problems though, top teams like Harare Sports Club weren't able to field 11 players on occasion and there were also umpire shortages.

Re: Domestic Tournaments 2009
Economics will be making it damn hard for ZC to pull this together, but I'd hazard a guess that they'll try to pull the various sides together in Harare and blitz all three competitions over a few weeks (say Logan Cup matches Mon-Thu, Faithwear on Sat, T20 on Sun; two matches each match day, at HSC and Academy). That would keep the running costs to a minimum.
As brmtaylor says, it's a requirement of being a Full Member that domestic First Class and List A competitions are held, and ZC won't want to give their detractors any more reason to criticise them than they already have.

Re: Domestic Tournaments 2009
You have to guess that those players seeking UK clubs are doing so with ZC's blessing, as there are so many of them. Including someone like Dabengwa, who would seem a very unlikely rebel. There is plenty of time to go if ZC are to organise these tournaments before the English season starts, as that is not until mid-April. However, this could be a potential clashing point between the board and the players. If the board woulds like them to be playing domestic cricket, but they would rather be playing club cricket in the UK. I know that has happened before with the likes of Taylor and Cremer. That said, a season in England has always been looked at as an important step in a player's development. There will be very few top players worldwide who havn't spent at least one summer in England in either club or county cricket...

Re: Domestic Tournaments 2009
I do hope that the domestic tournament of Zimbabwe is arranged successfully. The standard of Zimabwean domestic cricket has been a matter of concern in recent times. So,it has to be made competitive and high in standards.
Dabengwa,Chakabva,Chigumbura,Mahwire and Taibu seems of course very unlikely rebel.Douglas Hondo is retired.Doubts over Graeme Cremer and Sean Williams, but I think it is very unlikely that they will become 'Rebel'.Keegan Meth,Gavin Ewing,Brendan Taylor,Charles Coventry and Craig Ervine has left Zimabwe in recent time.I think that all these players can be very useful in domestic and international level.
I personally think, the first choice of the players should be playing domestic cricket in Zimbabwe. The next choice should be playing club cricket in England.I don't find any reason to not allow the players to play club cricket in UK.It's significent for a player to gain experience playing in overseas condition. If the domestic competition isnt set up by the time when club season of UK starts,I would preffer the players to play club cricket in England of course by having board permission.Repersenting Zimbabwe is first.

I'm not really sure if this is the right thread or not.
