1st ODI | Zimbabwe Vs Ireland | 18th Jan 2023

Post by secretzimbo »

Hopefully we can follow up the T20's with another series win.

Unfortunately still quite a bit of rain in the forecast, again. But somehow they managed to avoid it in the T20's.

Interesting to see the lineup. Is Raza back in time? Will they stick with all three of Marumani, Madhevere and Madande? And will it be Mavuta or Masakadza?

Stirling, Tucker and Little back for Ireland. Little in particular has turned into one of the better seamers in the world.

As always with the early start time, extremely important toss to win in Harare.

Looks like rain in the afternoon possibly?

Good news for me is that I can watch the start of the match and then just go to bed if it gets washed out :D

The weather ain't looking good. Batting first is going to be a nightmare. I doubt we will get a 100 over game so they have to keep that in mind

Nyauchi starts in place of Larry
Wellington preferred to Mavuta
Marumani to join Chamu on the bench
Raza in.

According to Cricinfo Junior McBrine is starting for Ireland, making his debut at the age of 59  if your old enough your good enough!

Seems like Dave refuses to drop Madhevere, fair enough to give him faith. He is under a lot of pressure though, hoping he can put a big innings together today.

I wonder who will open Madhevere or Ervine ?

Very harsh on Larry I’d have to say, he has been the better bowler between him and Ngarava in the t20s.

Would have liked to see Mavuta but hopefully Wellington can prove me wrong.

Yes harsh on Larry although I think if we bowl first Nyauchi could be a handful in the morning
