Zim T10 League to roar into life under lights at HSC

Mulk International Zim Afro T10 League is set to roar into life on 22nd April at Harare Sports Club, and some exciting cricket is coming to town for more than a week, with the finals played on 30th April, hopefully to a stadium full of crowds and under lights - a day-night affair for the first time ever on the Zimbabwean soil.

Efforts have reached the final stages in getting the flood lights setup at HSC. There have been many occasions in the past where floodlights were planned to be erected at HSC, only to be delayed or deferred for various logistic and financial hurdles. This time, ZC chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani says, the floodlight cricket is here for good. “Zimbabwe Cricket fans deserve better”, the chairman said, adding “ZC has now made all the efforts necessary to get this done and do so in a sustainable manner. Our ability to set up floodlights and move to the new era of cricket in Zimbabwe is also an indication of the transparent way in which ZC is run. Also, crowd support and popularity of cricket is at an all time high in Zimbabwe, so we only want to serve the supporters with better cricket experience.”

While the Mulk International Zim Afro T10 League runs in parallel to the Indian Premier League, there is no dearth of international interest on this short format league. Apart from all the domestic stars, there are reportedly confirmed participations from people based overseas - former U19 stars Tochukwu Enwerem (based in the US), Malcolm Lake (based in the UK), former Zimbabwe internationals Greg Strydom (based in Cayman Islands), Kieth Dabengwa (based in Denmark), young Silent Watambwa (from Belgium), German international Dylan Blignaut, Jayden Goodwin (son of former national star Murray Goodwin) and Jayesh Ranchod, among others.
