Andrew Fidel Fernando always writes delightful stuff. Here's his latest I enjoyed quite a bit: Thirty terms that came into cricket since 1993: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/thir ... 93-1363928
My only problem with this is - Scoop is mentioned twice in this 30 but with no mention of Marillier. But overall, hilarious as usual.

There was a Reddit thread about players who invented things. I mentioned Marillier and got downvoted.
People just seem to ignore him and not care. As soon as you question anything sub-continent, those fans attack you big time.

I've heard that argument before, but to me it honestly is gaslighting.slcricfan1 wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 12:17 am

Dilshan played it more effectively than anyone else and for a longer duration in his career for sure (and his career itself was much longer anyway). And I liked him as a player too. But to credit him with the invention of this shot is obviously incorrect.
