Fellas, if South Africa is known as "The Proteas" , what would we the Zimbos call ourselves??

"Proteas" is after their badge (same as the Springboks) - dunno what you'd call ZC's current badge. Although the ZRP did think it was an illicit MDC logo for a while...

Here's an idea, though. Both SA and Zim rugby sides are named after deer (Boks and Sables), stick to the theme and have both cricket sides named after plants. Flame lily would be the obvious one for Zim, and since their kit is predominantly red, the Flames would work. Also fits in with the side's unerring abiity to go down in flames at any opportunity. Now we just need a new badge to match.

You know what maehara, i was thinking about the "Flame Lily" too. I reckon we should adopt to that name, sounds cool

Commentators normally call us "Zimbo's" or "Zimmers" so i guess we should go with one of those.

I'd go with, The Red Ants. Or maybe maehara's Flames. What do you guys think should be our team nick name?

Flame Lily idea is cool but the name sounds a bit 'soft'....

oh the 'lilies of Zimbabwe....they have gone down in flames etc...we would give the commentators a lot to work with, lol

bt it is the national flower n it has a basis at least...


Alternatively, we would name it after the Zim bird...is there any one out there who knows what it is...I know they call it Chapungu in Shona
