What would your Zimbabwe A sqaud be for Canada and Namibia?

Intersting one, the zimbabwe national team will be in Srilanka. It will be intersting what sqaud will be out for Canada and Namibia one dayers. Have we got decent enough second string players? because really Zimbabwe A should be beating Canada and Namibia.

I think Chakabva should be in the national squad, and Kasteni used to be a wicket keeper sometimes so he could be a backup. It's probably better for Waller to play against Namibia and Canada, because he might find it hard to break into the team if he is in Asia. While the Indian academy facilities would have been good for him, for his development matches against Namibia and Canada (which surely are stronger than any of the provinces) will probably be useful. Vermeulen to be eased back into the system ideally.

So a pretty typical A team. Feel a bit sorry for Garwe, he is always an automatic selection - the first name on the list every time. Hasn't taken the next step to get into the national team, but the more matches he plays before he debuts the more experienced he will be. Only 20 or so matches (of each format) under his belt, once he gets to 40 or 45 he will have encountered many different situations.

In all likelihood, when the A team is selected I think it might feature a couple of U-19 players. Guys like Chisoro, Chimbambo, etc.

Nope, dylan emailed ZC and Lovemore Banda confirmed that Zimbabwe A will be playing Canada (and Namibia). In a completely unrelated coincidence, Cricinfo changed their story soon afterwards

I notice that one name in particular is missing from selection thoughts.

Is Blessing Mahwire still in with a chance ?, i would have thought that his experience would be helpful to the younger players and, if i remember correctly, he bowled some very good spells during the SAA series last year.

Tino Mawoyo is another, but I think there have been a lot of people which have overtaken them in the pecking order.

Doesn't this establish (ZCN + ZCF + brmtaylor.com) as the primary source of Zimbabwe cricket information? I mean, this "strange coincidence" has surfaced more than a couple of times recently. There must surely be a Cricinfo spy amongst us, the forum members.

We like to think so.

I do know that ZCN has been quoted in a CricInfo article by Stephen Price, so he's clearly a reader, while brmtaylor.com's been quoted by the Zimbabwe Independent in the past. All we do is make the effort to round up the news - and the members here are a great help with that.
