Thought I'd throw up the forum now as the date closes in. This seems like the only opportunity a prospective Zim squad for the Africa Qualifiers will get for some international practice. Eagles coach Pierre de Bruyne has said they want to run a squad pretty consistent to what they're using in the Qualifiers, but x5 games gives some flexibility.
Is there an opportunity for some Zim NPL stars to get some international debuts, or will we see a repeat of the Nyauchi/Akram/Shumba/Kaia group replacing ad-hoc an otherwise standard squad?
We'd all love a Welch/Bennett being thrown in the mix, but I assume they'll run with a pretty standard squad.

Nick Welch surely goes straight into the squad, he's been dominant in the NPL. Bennett might get in if he's lucky but I feel he may have to wait a little longer.
I wonder if Williams will play?

Do you think Bennett will realistically play for Zimbabwe?

Ever? Ya I'd bet my house on it.
He'll have a full franchise season and I'm sure he'll do well. He will be very much in the picture by next year.

Is Raza around?
Re: Zimbabwe tour of Namibia 24 Oct-30 Oct 2023
Question who Nick would replace in a standard squad? If Williams or Raza isn't interested in the series then he's an obvious fit, otherwise he'd be taking a Wes/Marumani/Shumba slot?
An Ervine/Welch opener would be interesting.

Don't be surprised to see Musikewa get a spot. He can bowl too and has been OK. His main attribute is hitting a long ball Elton chigumbura style in his pomp.

Surely we select everybody who is available to play. We can't take chances with these qualifiers.
I see Nick Welch going straight in but I think Bennett will need to have a strong domestic season. There is some stiff competition amongst the younger players. Will be interesting to see who stands out.
