Chawaguta attached to Australia
ZIMBABWE national cricket coach Walter Chawaguta will be attached to the Australia national team coach for two weeks next month in a move set to benefit the local game, Zimbabwe Cricket revealed.
Chawaguta will join coach Tim Nielsen in the United Arab Emirates from April 20 until May 4, during the World Champions’ One-Day International series against Pakistan in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The attachment is part of an ongoing education programme that Zimbabwe Cricket initiated to build its capacity in the various spheres of the game and is running with the generous assistance and cooperation of Cricket Australia (CA).
“Zimbabwe Cricket is very grateful for all the assistance and cooperation we are getting from CA,” said ZC managing director Ozias Bvute, adding “We believe that Walter (Chawaguta) will benefit immensely from this exposure and will return to impart the knowledge he gains from (Tim) Nielsen to his fellow coaches and the players.”
The attachment with the Australia team coach is the second time that Chawaguta has been on the CA-ZC Education Programme. Last year, he was attached to the CA Centre of Excellence in Brisbane for five weeks, together with Zimbabwe under-19 coach Shepherd Makunura.
They then attended a level three coaching course afterwards, together with national team assistant coach Douglas Hondo. Four players – Regis Chakabva, Tendai Chisoro, Friday Kasteni and Prosper Tsvanhu – and two administrators, Cheryl Muregerera and Trevor Mutangadura, also went to Australia under the programme last year.
This year, two administrators, Ms Esther Lupepe and Ms Shingai Rhuhwaya, have attended the programme. Three staff members from the Cricket Operations department and four players will also be going to Australia during the course of the year.
But it is the attachment of Chawaguta to Nielsen that will bring unquantifiable value to the game as the coach needs to learn from the best so that he can impart his knowledge to the players upon his return.

That's really a good news.
Good to see that Cricket Australia (CA) is expanding it's hand to help Zimbabwean cricket. It will be productive for the cricket of Zimbabwe overally and it will make the coaching standard higher in Zimbabwe.

Top marks to Cricket Australia.
The only downside for me is that it is not someone more experienced like Robin Brown rather than Chawaguta.
