Re: Zimbabwe A Beat Canada By 6 Wickets
all the info i have for the moment
a good solid win by our inexperienced A side against one of the leading associates which is a great effort, if we can follow this up with a win against the stronger Ireland side then this brief tour would of once again highlighted our strength in depth and show that there is a clear distance between ourselves and the associates.

Thanks for this - SuperCricket have had a placeholder page up for the match all day but it's depressingly blank. Everyone else seems to be ignoring the warm-up games.
..and yes, it's another good win. Have to say I never doubted their ability to beat Canada - Ireland on Thursday will be the real test, as they're the strongest Associate side by quite some margin. Not that I'm biased, or anything.

Re: Zimbabwe A Beat Canada By 6 Wickets
Another convincing win for the A-team, very encouraging. Especially considering the national side tied with Canada in a 20/20 recently, and this Canada side will be stronger.
I think the depth in Zim is as good as it's ever been, the few outstanding international quality players at the top are what's missing...

Zimbabwe A beat Canada in World Cup warm up
THE Steven Mangongo coached Zimbabwe A side beat Canada by six wickets, in their one-day match in Benoni, South Africa on Tuesday.
The North Americans were using the match as part of their warm-up programme for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2009, which is in South Africa from the first to the 19th of next month.
Canada won the toss and opted to bat. Pin-point bowling by the Zimbabwe A side had them down by four wickets for just 35 runs in 15 overs but they made some effort at recovery and built up to 97 for seven in 36 overs then 136 runs for nine wickets in 42 overs before perishing for 142.
The damage was done by Trevor Garwe who finished with three wickets for 23 runs and Shingirai Masakadza who also claimed three. Tafadzwa Kamungozi and Admire Manyumwa got two wickets each.
In response, Zimbabwe A reached the victory target for the loss of four wickets. Openers Bothwell Chapungu and Eric Chauluka made 16 and 5 respectively and Richmond Mutumbami 24, before the pair of Mbekezeli Mabuza and Mark Vermeulen made an unbeaten stand that took Zimbabwe A home.
Mabuza was 61 not out and Vermeulen, the former Zimbabwe international who is making a strong case for a return to the lofty venues in which he used to ply his trade, 14 not out.
Zimbabwe A will play Ireland in another World Cup Qualifier warm-up match on Thursday. The venue remains the headquarters of the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) in Benoni, South Africa.

Note to self: hire zimfan1.
Note to everyone else: Cricket Archive are showing another fixture v Canada for tomorrow (26th) - not sure if it's an error or not, but something to keep an eye on.
