ZCN recently had a chance to put a few questions to Alester Maregwede, who made his Test debut for Zimbabwe in 2004 and who has recently been playing in Australia. Despite having been out of the national picture for a while, Alester is still hoping to return to the top of the Zimbabwean game - but we started with asking him about where his cricketing career began. Very cool interview and a very mature outlook I remember playing against Alester when he was the ojnee of the youngest in the churchill team but the boy had a straight bat! And what a load of rubbish to be told you are too old at 24 years!! Which nutcase is killing Zim cricket there??

Thanks, folks. There's a story behind how this interview came about that I can't relate, but suffice to say I enjoyed dealing with Alester to get it done. Guy seems to have the right attitude towards his cricket - just remains to be seen whether there's somewhere for him to slot in to the current setup. Looks like he's on his way home for the coming season, so we'll soon see.
