Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has announced it will host Zimbabwe’s first Boxing Day Test at home in 28 years and the country’s first ever New Year’s Test this festive season, both scheduled for Bulawayo.
The historic matches are part of a full tour by Afghanistan that also includes a limited-overs series.
Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will first meet in three T20 international matches set for 9, 11 and 12 December at Harare Sports Club.
After that, they will face off in as many one-day internationals pencilled in for 15, 17 and 19 December at the same venue.
Action will then move over to Bulawayo for the Test series, with the first one scheduled for 26-30 December and the second being played from 2-6 January.

Great for the fans but I would imagine plenty of the players will be fuming about having to spend Christmas Day in Bulawayo!!

If you're a professional sports man you should sacrifice some family time or whatever personal things

A question from an outsider who has never been there: what's wrong with Bulawayo?secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 2:44 pmGreat for the fans but I would imagine plenty of the players will be fuming about having to spend Christmas Day in Bulawayo!!

Christmas is a family time that’s why. I’m sure some comfort will be found at the strip club however.

Back in 2015 I remember Zimbabwe starting a one day series against Afghanistan on Christmas day

Good memory!
Going abroad is different I suppose.
But ZC really could have put this first Test in Harare so 95% of the players could spend Christmas Day with family. If I was a player I would be pretty annoyed.

Looks like we are going to have play quite a few test matches over the next 12 months. No way they cancel games against NZ and SA but host Afghanistan for 2 tests. That would be crazy.
Williams playing in the Logan Cup suggests that too. I wonder if Raza will try get a few games in. I'm sure he wants to play in the bigger test matches.

Looking forward to this series. Used to love watching this derby every year albeit in ODIs only but now they play way too infrequently.
