Just trying to get some chat going on something that I think would be amazing for the game and would allow the best of the best to play in a World Cup. I’ve always loved the idea or possibility of the icc allowing players to represent their county of birth or having family links of a certain pedigree or value to the country of choice at a World Cup or World Cup qualifiers. This obviously only if they aren’t being selected for the country that the player resides / plays domestic Cricket in. For example Hilton Cartwright seems to be a forum Favourite here of someone we would love to represent us. So what if players like himself, the other Curran brothers, Muyeye, Goodwin, byrom ect.I know this will never happen but this would make world cups so much more stronger and fun. The competition between teams besides maybe aus Eng India and South Africa would be so close and provide such a better spectacle, almost like how they allow it for football. I don’t know I’m probably rambling, but would love to see some teams and points made about this. If Zimbabwe was to play in a 50 over World Cup tomorrow and you had a 15 man squad available to pick from any current zimbo playing or even a player with zim heritage ( mum dad ) ect what would your playing 11 and reserves be. Well this made me want to cry seeing a team like this on paper, it’s awesome and exciting to imagine if this could actually happen if the icc had some creativity and desire to grow the game in a way that wasn’t a money making scheme designed as a honest good faith of the game decision. I’ve backed in Taylor at 38 as a keeper at 7 as he’s better than anything we have currently, and our wicket keeper stocks are more thin than a middle aged white mans hairline. So yes if someone wants to point out the dominance of white players picked in my squad and give some arguments to who should miss out be my guest please.This zim team is seriously strong and I would back this squad to honestly take on most sides outside the top nations. If I’ve forgotten anyway please let me know!

Ps haven’t picked Sam Curran as he’s normally around Englands white ball setup, also I think he’s the most overated cricketer going. Plus my bowling attack I’ve selected is better than him,

Sam Curran wasn't born in Zimbabwe anyway. In fact none of the Curran trio were.

I’m aware of that… if you read my post I have noted that not every player has to be born there

Oh sure, I did see that. Just pointing out that the flow of players to/from Zimbabwe/England isn't entirely one way.

I wouldn't take offence at Muddy.

It would have been very interesting if Jayden Goodwin had done his Mormon walkabout here and had decided he liked the place. Had he been successful in converting people we could have had Castle Corner dressed in black sitting watching in stony silence.

It would have been very interesting which way Sam Curran had gone were it not for Kev's untimely passing. Would ZC have turned a guy who's had an absolutely stellar career into an ordinary player? The truth is he may not have even ever been picked for Zim If he had it would have been as a batsman and a very part time bowler. ZC have absolutely nailed turning good cricketers into shit ones

I would think Sam is going to have to reinvent himself at the tender age of 26 if he's going to get another England call-up. Such a strange situation he finds himself in, but now has the luxury of no financial stress. When he played age group here he never opened the bowling, although he was very small and developed late physically. He plundered loose bowling as a kid, I saw him have some astonishing innings, but he always gave chances, albeit tough ones. Personally I think he has an outside chance of coming back as a front line batter if he works hard and things go his way. He gives his wicket away, such a tough thing to rectify

Alec Stewart was the one who fast tracked him....as a bowler. He was right...and a bit wrong in my view, and a decision that well might count against him now because his batting is not quite where it should be and it's a game of millimetres. That age group he played in here was unbelievable, they used to beat the top provincial teams in SA very regularly. Sam was only one of a nucleus of about 5 really excellent players. It's so strange what direction life can take you in. You need some luck, some breaks, and for someone to believe in you.

When Sam went to UK and played Surrey age group there were a number of "better" batters than him. About 4 of them have also played for England. There was a young guy there that was off the chart talented and I think fell out with Surrey and never got to even play County (probably black listed, they do that there). I can't remember his name. I mean he was head and shoulders above the likes of Curran, Pope and Jacks. They also lose guys, but not many, and it's often because of an attitude problem.
When you see probably one of the top 6 batters to ever play school cricket here in our country's history be a very average international batsman it makes you realize what's out there.
Have I ever mentioned we need a HPC with Houghton heading it up??? Our promising guys need to be in there hitting 2000 balls a week under an expert eye. Until we see that day we know ZC is just going thru the motions.

I’m well aware that this has been discussed multiple times googly, and no offence is taken. I’ve been on this forum with this account for 7 plus years and my old account for 4 years before then. Every single thread is almost the same chat regurgitated in different forms But it’s all well and good, it’s just what I felt like creating and getting some chat going.

Also the reason I’ve left ballance out is because he’s come and gone when we needed him most. Would rather get games into players that are young or actually want to play for us.
