It seems clear that Salamander has been told to stick with a couple of the guys so he has to find spots for them.
On a decent pitch you need a guy that can take advantage of the fielding restriction. Wes is not a big hitter so he's not the right choice. On this tricky pitch where survival is more important until the ball calms down he is an option. The general opinion is that he's technically capable.
If theyre going to stick with him they need him to hit the gaps and run 2's where possible AFTER the poweplay but before you need to hit at the end.

They surely have seen enuf of Clive at 3 and will try Dion there? The current plan is to chew up some overs until Burl and Raza join up in the 7th, nudge it around until the 17th hide Musekiwa and Munyonga for as long as possible so they can keep the finisher fable going as long as possible, then try and get decent personal scores, get us to 130, make it look not too embarrassing and hope for a miracle low scoring thriller. Seems like a winning plan

Bennett has had some good fortune surviving those first 6 overs before he settles down and starts playing well. Law of averages says not today.

Luck tends to favour the brave.

T20 against good bowling really highlights when a batter is low in confidence or looking lost.

There's virtually nobody in world cricket that can pinch hit off tight bowling when the pitch is assisting the bowler.
I mean we've all seen what an absolute gun Tim Seifert is, and he has been kept quiet in the power play.

When Bennett is struggling he scratches around and looks fairly average and then you look at the scoreboard and suddenly he's on 20. He does it too many times for it to be luck but he is lucky.

You're absolutely right. Theres a huge difference though between being kept quiet and looking completely put of your depth.
A guy out of his depth you can spot in one over, if he lasts that long.

And where will Madande bat? If they put him at 3 again I will have to go for one of many calming walks  if you were going to make a vaguely understandable change it would be to drop Madande for Marumani.
Needed to swap Munyonga for Myers. Tough on Munyonga but Myers needs a go and Madhvere is waaaay better than Clive.
Leave Madhevere there. Out of that squad he is not completely lost at this level.
