You cant really bide your time chasing anyrhing over 170, you have to get on with it from the get go, you can maybe afford two quiet overs. It all hinges as usual on an early Indian batting collapse, losing 3 or 4 wickets in the powerplay. Our bowlers usually win us 80% of the games that we do win in a low scoring affair.
Chasing that 179 the other night is not how we generally go against the big teams.
A flat deck will lessen our slim chances enormously.
As good as Bennett is he's a lucky player, the number of near misses he has is so unusual. That wheel will turn and he will have a bad run at some point. Ive said that for a while but he seems to bounce back within a couple of games
That will expose our middle order more often and we just don't have anyone world class behind Raza.
Its going to be interesting to see if Curran replaces Musekiwa. Tough on both of them if that happens.
Curran is underprepared for this level. Kicking a guy when he's probably had the worst cricketing day of his life is pretty shit as well. If they do replace Musi it may well be with Madande.
I think Dion did enuf to have another shot up the order.
We finally saw a glimpse of a good player. Ive always punted him. That was a good innings.
I know it was only one innings, but Evans could go up a spot or two. The one thing you know with Evans is he is not likely to get stuck at a run a ball. He will play a big shot or a funky one sooner rather than later. That run a ball stuff down the order loses you the game most times. I'd rather gamble him going after a few than watching 15 off 15 because the bowling is so tight. Evans can hit a good ball to the boundary. Not too often, but he can, and there are guys there that simply can't.
Maru has gone up a notch as well. Just goes to that sweep or reverse or that help it round the corner shot way too often, those are such high risk shots, he has to play in front of square more.
Theyve punted Munyonga, Madande and Musekiwa so long now that they have improved. They'll come back to domestic and possibly be amongst the top handful now, which they weren't before. The real unseen damage is to the better guys who would likely have done a lot more with the ridiclously long opportunities these guys have had and not done much with. Over 130 innings between them!! Just insane. They'll get another 200 as well. Just gotta hope Bennett and Raza have another 200 good innings to hide them. Who can go up a really visible notch when exposed to this level? I'm not seeing it with these lads. Maru looks better, as does Dion.
Hetmeyer's celebration when Musi dropped that first catch I dont think has been seen before. That dude was wired to the moon.
