His average and strike rate is worse than a lot of test bowlers, but in T20

I don't know why people are rejecting Maposa suddenly. He had an okay start in international cricket by Zimbabwean standards; even Ngarava struggled in his early days, and look at what he is now.
I remember Ngarava was having a tough time of it even against Singapore, now he's our all time highest T20I wicket taker. Musekiwa, Munyonga need to go. Maposa I think there's something to work with. Myers hasn't kicked on for the talent he's got. Unfortunate.

Would love to see BT transition to a coaching role as well. I just don't think he can push his body until the ODI WC and it would be unjust to others, even if he is a legend of the game. The work he put in with Bennett clearly has paid massive dividends. Next batting coach over Matsi?

Matsi is not the batting coach now it's Dion Ebrahim.

Yeah im worried about the senior citizens. Will have to see how they do over the next few months in ODIs. Innocent Kaia is having a really good List A season. Wouldnt be surprised if they make him open and move Bennett or Ben. Things that need to be tried out soon so that we have a plan B if BT and Craig dont make it.
Im really excited about the ODI World Cup in home conditions. Our batting depth was the problem in this T20 world cup, we dont have that problem in ODIs. Just need to pick the right combinations and we will have our strongest team since 1999 if the senior players make it.

Just need to figure out who the keeper will be. I think Clive and even Tsiga(who is having the Logan Cup of his life but somehow not playing that many List A games) are better picks than Maru in ODIs. Maru is improving every year but I think he needs more time to work on his strike rotation. A 12 ball 20 is a success in T20s but not in ODIs. Havent seen that side of him building a flawless innings yet.
Not 100% convinced by Cremer yet but with more game time I think he will make it. I just feel like Burl could actually offer a good 4 or 5 overs a game if he bowled more. I dont think Welly is the solution either.
Hopefully the man with the eligibility issues gets cleared because if he does it changes a lot in my opinion. For example Burl coming in at 8 against the stronger teams is something that could work then

Marumani (wk)
Raza
Ervine
Burl
Myers
Evans
Muzarabani
Ngarava
Cremer
We still have depth issues in all formats.

We always will.

How about J campbell or N welch in place of myers at the end.. or if he becomes eligibile some fine day, Naqvi.
Never say never with ZC, williams could be drafted in just before the WC(if both parties agree).
You picked ervine in your XI but he is same age as Taylor. If both r fit for that last ride, I think Taylor has the edge over ervine with 10+ ODI tons.
Chivanga & newman can step in if muzarabani or ngarava are injured.
I dont think 5 players with 40+ age by the time of odi wc next year can feature in the same squad. One or 2 might make the cut, Raza definitely. The other one might be Cremer as spinners usually dont get injured that much. Taylor Ervine will be 41, I honestly think they both might not be in the squad even tho I definitely want Taylor in the playing XI if he is fit but you never know, injuries might rule both out. Williams might be recalled at the last minute if both ervine and taylor r out(either injury or retirement) since ZC has seen he can really strike it big if he gets going(evident in 2023 WC qualifiers) but I doubt his availability and fitness since he is out of the scene atm
Edit: Burl was not in the odi squads recently, he didnt perform in super 8 t20 wc 2026, recorded 2 ducks maybe.. but if its Burl or Munyonga, Burl anyday
