Missing faces

It's very early days and (a) cricinfo are known for overlooking things and (b) ZC are known for not announcing things, but these are the players who seem to be missing at the moment.

It should be remembered that this info is from cricinfo only.

I don't believe that any of these players will make themselves available but who knows ?

Sean Ervine, Anthony Ireland, Travis Friend, Gary Ballance, Stephen Marillier & Glen Querl

And the others that i've spotted, bearing in mind some may have contracts elsewhere that are still current and may well be in negotiation with the franchises

Gerald Aliseni, Andy Blignaut, Tinashe Chimbambo, Innocent Chinyoka, Dion Ebrahim, Neil Ferreira, Trevor Gripper, Ryan Higgins, Tinashe Hove, Romeo Kasawaya, Ian Nicolson, Mluleki Nkala, Steven Nyamuzinga, Tinashe Panyangara, Piet Rinke, Bradley Staddon, Kudakwashe Samunduru, Kudzai Taibu, Freedom Takurusenga, Prosper Tsvanhu, Nathan Waller, Campbell Macmillan, Doug Marillier, Keegan Meth, Steady Musoso and Waddington Mwayenga.

I'm sure that some of these have already, or are about to, sign up. If so then perhaps there should have been a 6th franchise !

well done, there hasn't been an effort to lure back pace bowlers, which i can see on your list. Hope the coaches take notice.

One former Zim international and 'rebel' that I haven't seen mentioned (I could have missed it of course)is Richie Sims. Does anyone have any info as to his whereabouts and if he is likely to return to a franchise :?:

Richard Sims plays in English club cricket for Swardeston in the East Anglian Premier League, he has been there since his departure from Zim cricket in 2004.

Thanks Train Driver. It looks as if he has had a pretty good season too.

Excellent work, Train Driver ! Well done !

As far as the pace bowling department is concerned, I would have made my top effort to get Andy Blignaut back in the main stream. I rate him very highly. Has a good pace, can bowl 90+ mph and a very aggressive batsman, very effective in the middle order. I know he has got payment problems but Ewing and Ebrahim (probably to return) had it also. But they are back. So, why not Blignaut ?

I hope some of the players will return when the UK domestic/club season ends.

Another thing, I think CricInfo has missed the name of Stephen Nyamunzinga from the squad of Mountaineers.

The Steven Mangongo-coached Mountaineers, who won the Logan Cup as Easterns last season, have an upper had as they have a strong batting order including Taibu, Hamilton Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Johnson Marumisa, Steven Nyamuzinga and Tino Mawoyo. Ncube, Shingi Masakazda and Zimbabwe captain Prosper Utseya make up their bowling attack.

Stephen Wright, Ben Hundermark, and Ryan Bennett are all missing. Bennett was a promising pace bowler, Wright was a spin bowler I think and Ben Hundermark was a medium pacer. Not sure where any of these guys are at the moment.
